Would anybody be for putting Darrion Owens at middle linebacker? With Young off the team and Grace and Pinckney on the outsides that leaves Owens in a bad spot and he's a **** good player from what I've seen. Would rather get him on the field at middle linebacker than see another Golden special hit the field (Jamie Gordiner)

If Owens is healthy the LBs will most likely be Owens(Will), Shaq(Mike) and Grace(Sam). Pinckney looks like he will backup up Owens at Will with Gordinier backing up Shaq at Mike and McCloud backing up Grace at Sam. They will all play a ton and in Diaz's defense the Sam and Mike positions are interchangeable and are both treated as inside LBs.


I know we are all ready to put the Golden era far behind but that doesn't mean that all of the kids he recruited can't play. Look at Njoku. My point is that Gordinier may be a player. Barring injury however I don't expect the kid to ever start since Shaq should be cemented into the MLB spot and I think McCloud and Pinckney have much higher ceilings.

Because he's slow, his high school film isn't impressive, his offer list contained no big schools, and he was recruited by Al Golden out of New Jersey. Anything else I missed?

So basically because he's white and not from South Florida, got it.... Njoku and AQM are from NJ as well but I guess because they're not white, it's ok. The coaches were raving about Jamie during the Spring so he must have some talent but I think we should take your opinion on it instead, SMH.

Didn't say anything about him being better than Owens. Actually I was one of the very few who said Owens would start if healthy over Pinckney at WLB. Not hurting my feelings at all, you just have no actual reasoning to back up your claims that Gordinier is a player or not "little guy".

I literally gave 4 reasons why. Let's try this again. "He's slow, no big offers, and was offered by al golden" try reading that

The only part of your "analysis" that would hold any water, if true, is that he's slow. I can't recall the testing numbers for him, but I recall someone saying or posting some pretty good speed and agility times for him. Luke Kuechly had no big offers. And Folden recruited several very good players.

I don't know where Gordinier is in the depth chart but the argument most are making here is that he's slow and that is not true if he's faster than the all the other LBs on the team.

I do think he'll be a better player than most will give him credit for though. He'll play a role and just because he won't start over Shaq(who isn't your ordinary incoming freshmen LB) doesn't mean he doesn't have talent. And nobody knows the true depth chart but one thing is true, both Gordinier and Shaq started during the spring at certain points in time.

I think it was Sooch that brought up JG's testing #'s. I'm part of the fan base that thinks Gordinier will be a player for us. I mentioned in another post that if he does indeed lack the agility to play LB his size could allow for him to move to DE. I don't understand why some fans are so eager to write the kid off without playing a down of live football against kids with different colored jerseys. If I'm wrong I will eat the crow...

Don't really understand all the garbage being piled on Gordinier...Coaches had him running with the 1st team in the spring and after all he is a Cane...

THAT is EXACTLY it. I am sorry but some of the comments are just flat out idiotic. If your basis to rate LB's is color and whether they are from Florida, then you are right on...he sucks. But if it is based on what the current coaches see (they love this kid), what people who actually know football say and his talent, then you have a **** good linebacker.

JG isn't slow. When the team ran combines last week, he was the fastest clocked linebacker in the Cone drills for LB's.
