Miami will get in the playoffs (here’s why)

I don't know if the committee will care about this but it will be a brutal look to put South Carolina in over Alabama or Ole Miss, both of whom they lost to.

In my opinion, it will come down to us or Alabama (assuming SMU wins) and my guess is they will go with Alabama. I won't like it, but we had our chance. Can only blame ourselves here.

I think we have a few things in our favor.

1. Bama's last loss to Oklahoma was HORRENDOUS. Just flat out embarrassing performance
2. Our loss to GT looks much better after the whole world saw them take the SEC's best or 2nd best team to 8 OTs.

We only had one game somewhat help us on Saturday....UT over TAMU. Other than that, it was a brutal weekend of college football. But that's what we get for not taking control after being up 21-0.

The GT close loss to UGA does make our loss to them look a little better, but not sure that will help us much. Bama's loss to OU was absolutely horrendous, no doubt about that. Unfortunately, they have that win over UGA and we have no wins against top 25 teams.

All of the above is true.

But I still don’t recall the Paul Finebaums of the world saying Alabama is a “Fraud” even though they have three losses and have even lost a game by 3 TDs. He did say that about Miami, though.

And that perception is why Miami will most likely be left out.

The committee doesn't listen to Paul Finebaum LOL.

They don't go off perception.

Look, the bottom line is Miami has consistently been ranked higher than this board, and ******* Paul Finebaum, thinks they should be. Every single week. Does that continue tomorrow? I don't think it's out of the question.

I’d be surprised. Sure we’re 10-2 and have lost close games to 2 good teams. But we also have no real signature wins. And have played our worst football down the stretch whereas South Carolina, just beat a potential playoff team in Clemson and has multiple other top 25 wins.

I’m putting a little money on Miami’s +850 odds. Here’s why:

Miami was ranked 1 spot ahead of Alabama a few weeks ago. All that has transpired since then:
Miami - Bye week, 28 point W over 4-8 Wake, 4 point road loss to 23rd ranked Syracuse (and our other loss took a top 10 team to 8 OT on the road), Duke ended 9-3, and UF beats LSU and Ole Miss.

Alabama - beat Mercer, 21 point loss to 6-6 Oklahoma and scored 3 points, 14 home win over 5-7 Auburn

Granted, they did jump us over after beating Mercer for no reason. But logic tells you that Miami’s resume is still better than a few weeks ago and played out better than the same team they were ranked ahead of at that point in time.

The betting odds have shifted significantly towards Miami not making the playoff and Alabama making the playoff. If you believe otherwise, you have a huge opportunity to make some money.
