Crude form in the clean and jerk....a power clean and a power heave jerk...would be good for 35+ pounds more with a low squat clean and split jerk.

Griffith put up 445 pounds (strict with a pause) on the bench press, good for third in his weight class. The senior followed it with an even better performance in the clean and jerk. Griffith lifted 340 pounds, good for second in his division.

Griffith, who played both guard and tackle for Riverview, wasn’t the only Miami-bound offensive lineman to medal this weekend. Cleveland Reed, a 4-star guard and Under Armour All-American, participated in the heavyweight division of the Class 1A championship Friday.

Reed weighed in at 350.2 pounds — he played his senior season at Fort Meade Middle-Senior High School listed at 6-4, 325 pounds — then hit a personal-best 420 pounds on the bench press, good for third in his division. The senior then followed it up with a 275-pound clean and jerk to finish with a total of 695. His performance landed him a fourth-place medal to go along with his district and region championships.

Pretty cool, thx for sharing. Hope that strength translates to the field.

Yeah me too. Recall we had that one guy -- Tyler Grimsley I think -- that was super strong, but it didn't translate into any PT for him.

25 lbs of weight gain in 4 months is a lot (if he really was 325 at the end of football)

In power lifting, it's combined total poundage of bench, squat and deadlift (mans lift )

I did this very competitively for years in younger days , trained at George Prince gym then traveled and trained at many places being sponsored.

After football injuries ended my career , I still had very competitive juices to deal with , I turned to power lifting 25 years old (40 years ago) back then.

weighed 220- 242 lbs

410 bench had tough time with this lift long arms killed , my squat and dead lifts were close to Florida / national record levels at the time very close fluctuated between 730 to 765 usually this poundage meant I usually pulled around 12-1 AM depending whom was left or whom was the guest lifter flown in to compete , made attempt at 810 National record (220 lbs body weight) at the time couldn't clear my upper knees Southern States opened at 765 a breeze , 810 different story...DEAD LIFT IS A MANS LIFT.

My best lifts at 220 pounds

410 weak got smeared
745 top (5) nation
765 same
total 1920lbs

These kids not bad at all.

All weights are heaver a competition

Hopefully Moose turns out to be a surprise. Big Ol' Reed will no doubt be a contender for Guard opposite of Donaldson. Scaife will be a center IMO.
Not only a surprise, but a huge surprise. He'll be on scholarship sooner rather than later. Dude is not a flabby 300 pound kid. He's going to be a mauler for us. Reminds me of a bigger Richard Mercier. You don't want to see this guy pulling if you're a LB. High motor guy with the body to hurt you when he hits you.

I have no idea how a lot of this translates to football but I think it can only be a positive thing. I hope Reed takes this off season seriously because he has a great opportunity for him. Get that 350 down to 325 by fall camp big fella!

Reed is going to struggle with weight management, just like Donaldson and Seantrel before him. But the S&C staff should keep him in shape. He is a massive kid, has great agility and burst for a body his size, and could be special.
