Every team, from Alabama on down, plays a few cupcakes. It only makes sense that if we are going to play some cupcakes, why not do it close to home, near our recruiting base. These games with FAU or FIU are not going to replace playing the UFs, Wisconsins, Notre Dames, etc., they will replace playing the Arkansas States, Memphis, Southern Mississippis, etc.

It's the Golden way, soft schedule get 9 wins easy. 9-3 Penn State South..

We are still 2-3 recruiting classes away from where we need to be talent wise to face FIU...

How Many classes are we away and excuses from beating Duke, VT and they're 100th ranked offense, Pitt,UVA and winning the grueling coastal?

This is a problem throughout college football not just Miami. Problem is 2 games were added to the schedule and teams are filling those two games with cupcakes. I say take the schedule back down to ten games and make the season more enjoyable for the fans and probably players. Top tier programs playing the equivalent of the University of Phoenix (online) is not good for the sport in the long run.

I wish the playoff system would force conferences to do some inter conference scheduling. Every year could be a conference tie in like ACC vs Big 10 or ACC vs SEC. Just like BB tounaments. You could be forced to play for example the #1 and 14 team or maybe the 7th and 8th team. One home and one away.

Nothing to be gained playing FIU. The U has always had a policy of playing anybody anywhere any time, taking it upstream to high caliber teams. Just because Bama, UF and others do it justifies nothing.

Bama plays in the SEC and they always schedule a big time opponent.Miami is becoming pussified Arkansas state, backing down from LSU and now this ****. And yes the SEC is tougher than the ****** ACC

It's not the quality of the opponent, it's FIU. I don't want to play FIU. Could you imagine what would happen if we lost to FIU? I'd much rather play Middle Tennessee State or North Texas.
