Apparently we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel. I guess Arkansas State only wanted a 2-game series:ohlord::eekeyes:

### Seven years after an ugly brawl prompted the Hurricanes to end their football series with FIU, UM says it’s now willing to play the Golden Panthers again.

Though talks are still in the early stages, both sides have expressed willingness to renew the football series and potentially resume playing in other sports as well.

“Our hope would be we are able to work something out,” UM athletic director Blake James said of football specifically. “We would play one game at Sun Life for sure and then explore opportunities for other potential games.”

FIU president Mark Rosenberg said he spoke to UM president Donna Shalala about the universities starting fresh and playing again. “It’s something we would like,” he said. “She would like to see it.”

FIU athletic director Pete Garcia said his stadium would not be big enough to host a football game against UM, but he would be interested in having one game at Sun Life and another at a different venue, with Marlins Park a possibility.

UM hasn’t played FIU in any sport since 2010 and decided not to play the Golden Panthers in football and basketball, beyond games already scheduled, after a bench-clearing brawl marred the 2006 football game.

UM’s Anthony Reddick swung a helmet at FIU players, UM’s Brandon Meriweather kicked an FIU player, and FIU’s A’Mod Ned swung at Miami players with his crutches.

Thirteen players were ejected and 31 were given additional one-game suspensions. The teams played in 2007, without incident, in a game that had already been scheduled, with UM winning 23-9.

It makes sense for UM and FIU to play in multiple sports, considering their proximity, and it’s good to see both sides willing to move past the brawl.

Are these people delusional? What would it have? 10 people in the stands?

We are still 2-3 recruiting classes away from where we need to be talent wise to face FIU...

I hear they're going to call it the Wigga Bowl. The winner will get a trophy shaped like a wife beater.

Scheduling FIU and FAU means that we don't have to schedule as many series like the Arkansas St. home-and-home and the Toledo home-and-home. I'd much rather play "road" games at FAU's stadium or the Marlins stadium.

When Cristobal was still coaching FIU, I went to a small function where he spoke and he mentioned that he and Golden were friendly and had discussed renewing the rivalry. I think these plans have been discussed for some time.

A benefit from playing FIU is that it should draw a decent crowd. Much better than other non-conference foes.

Ugh. I know there are more pressing issues in this program, but this scheduling has gotta stop and not just for UM but across CFB. This season's first 3 out of 4 games were absolutely brutal. FAU, Savannah State and USF. Throw in WF and UVA and thats **** near half the schedule on garbage football.

Same bull**** is happening across CFB.

Don't really want to play FIU, but it's better than Savanna St.
When do the Canes "go" to FAU, thought it was next year?

How dare you come in here with logic and reason!!!

Is Al talking to Barry College and Lynn University too? How bout Miami Dade College & Robert Morgan Vocational Tech - let's go all out and just play local. It'll be just like high school.

I'm already on the fence about season tickets. These kind of crap games might push me over to the NO side.
