I completely agree with you . . . As to the Canes and Heat. But for some reason even with all their success, the Dolphins never became a national brand IMO. The Marlins of course won’t be a national brand as they either win a World Series or are terrible. But the Dolphins have been good to very good since Marino (of course greeat in the early 70’s), but never have seemed to catch on.

I always wondered how a pro city could have a college team with a bigger national brand than the pro team. I don’t think the same exists in any other city unless you count USC. But for years they were literally the only team in town (UCLA football does not count).

The Fab 5 of Michigan was rocking Canes gear in that same 90-94 period you mentioned.
Most people under 40 weren’t alive or old to remember how powerful the logo was. There is a reason why we were the first program that Nike chose to wear their gear.

Not Michigan, not notre dame, not Alabama, not Oklahoma.
It was us.

43 here. Earliest memory of Canes I have which started it for me was 1989, Canes 27, Notre Dame Fighting Irish 10

I’d like to personally thank the FSU and UF fans who have stopped watching their own teams just to tune in to hate watch Miami every week. I can’t imagine staying up until 2:30 am to watch ANY UF or FSU game. I guess I just don’t hate as hard as their fans do.

In all seriousness what the F was the ACC/Miami thinking allowing that game to be scheduled so late. That was some bull****.

Miami football, when good, is Howard Stern in the 80s. We have a LOT of fans, nationally. Way more than twitter trolls would lead you to believe. They tune in religiously.

But we have WAY MORE full-fledged, purebred, laser-focused HATERS. Sooooo many. And they watch even more intently than our fans.

So the bottom line is, when Miami is Miami, there are a LOT of eyeballs on the program. It differs tremendously from most places. NC State, for example. They have a lot of fans. Alumni, etc. People watch. But they have no haters. They don't have people who tune in simply to pray to the almighty baby jesus that they lose. Miami does. And I ******* love it.

Same

My neighbors were a Notre Dame household and seeing the hatred they had for Miami and seeing Miami slap them around is a core memory and I was a fan from that day on
