Miami-UNC Preview: Revenge game for the Tar Heels?

In fairness, Walker is a freshman. His body is not developed yet. His mind says I am good enough to be a pro but his body isn't ready to defend guys flying down the lane. He will get there one day, I think. Newton and Amp played a good game. Everyone else, meh. Huell 5 points, Lykes 6 points, Vasiljevic 6 points, Uzundu 5 points, and Walker 9 points is just not going to win too many games especially with those refs. Shout out to Newton for 17 points and Amp for 12. The defense was not good but the offense sucked this game. After the refs, I would have to place the blame there.

Terrible play but the game was already decided by then. When I saw the bracket I knew we would lose. No way they pass up on a Duke/UNC game. We aren't a team that can win with that kind of handicap. We aren't consistent enough.

Walker needs to stay. He probably won't but he badly needs to develop another layer of grit. If he enters the draft I would not want my favorite nba team to draft him.

You're right. I'm sorry. Letting them score 50 or whatever points in the paint tonight without putting a body on body once works much better.

You got to show up. If the refs actually call even more fouls and flagrants or a tech, than you've forced the ref's hand. The refs cannot dictate your effort. I pray this team doesn't run into UNC in some back ally...

Buddy we had FIVE players with two fouls in the first half. How much more forcing are you looking for? Or you’d rather the whole team just foul out rather than keeping it competitive to the three minute mark before the refs decided to put it away on their own?

Lonnie had only two fouls when he let Pinson waltz to the hoop, foul trouble isn't an excuse for that barnyard musical. And the refs may have been calling it both ways tonight but we never drove to the hoop and drew any contact so we'll never know, we were scared of contact tonight.

We never drove except Lonnie, Lykes, Newton, and Heull driving and not getting calls unless it was a two hand drag-down foul. I know you could make them getting body-fouled, but our guys just aren’t tough enough. So... yeah... good times.

Oh wait. Newton got a call. It was a charge.

Yeah the refs weren't perfect but if they were that bad we could at least grow some test**les and force the refs to go on record with the foul calling. Truth is the refs and UNC got in our head and this team quit tonight.

The refs didn’t let Pinson pull a few 3s in their face also...

Didn’t agree with that call but nobody for us was even attempting to take a charge especially when the game changed in the second half so we don’t really have the right to complain about that one either.

Actually Izundu did try to take a charge and got called with a blocking foul. Almost the same setup as Newton’s.

Izundu was tough tonight. Only had five points but made sure to go down swinging at least. Drew enough contact opposite ball for the flagrant foul to be called on that one sequence.
 
The lineup for our last game should be

With the obvious guys coming off the bench. Coach changing the lineups so much hurts our defense. The guys are confused. Let the starting 5 play
 
The refs were awful tonight at really hurt us but we hurt ourselves just as much. Our defense was horrific. We played our typical offensive game of dribbling too much and not moving the ball around which leads to very tough shots. We had a few plays where we hit Lonnie on the back door cut. I will never understand how all year the majority of the time we don't move the ball and make the defense move. If we did this, no one would be able to stop Walker, Lykes, or Newton from driving. It's mind boggling. Really hope we fix this for the tournament.
 
Stop whining about the refs. How many opportunities did we create going to the basket? Who committed a 3 point foul on a half court shot? Who missed multiple opportunities to finish early in the game when UNC couldn't hit the broadside of a barn? It was a weak effort and the refs (or commentators) did not change the outcome.
