Miami Slotted Eighth in College Football Playoff Rankings

Still a lot of shaking up that could happen.

What if USC beats Notre Dame, Ohio State blasts Indiana, The loser of the SEC champ game has 3 losses.

Lets just take care of business but I do think if we somehow looked good the next two weeks then lost a really exciting champ game by a late touchdown we'd still squeak in. I almost think the buzz growing about the SEC bias could help get the ACC a second team if things break right.

I think we all need to take into consideration that the CFP Rankings are done by a 12 member committee, none of whom are employed by ESPN. Here are the members of the committee:

If that scenario played out as you described, I would love it if we got an at large bid. Sorry But there is no way a 2 loss Miami team with no signature wins is getting in especially over a 2 loss SEC team.
There's still 2 weeks of chaos left to play out. A 2 loss Texas team would also have no signature wins. A 1 loss Indiana team with no signature wins. And also I'm not convinced ND wins out either. Like I said, I wanna win out and get the bye. Also really want that ACC Championship to get that monkey off our back. But realistically I don't think we could count us out completely in that scenario.

They went to Baton Rouge recently and skull ****ed an LSU team that would still be moving the chains on us. Enough with this ostrich in the sand CIS.

The SEC is on another level and anyone with a pulse knows this.

We have to go beat 2 bball schools and a former fbs school led by a coordinator we fired to land the 3 seed yet we’re sitting here complaining about bama. Bama. Stop it.

Get the **** out of here with that Transitive Property bull****. We also beat the **** out of the team (Gators) that just beat LSU, so please cut the crap with "an LSU team that would still be moving the chains on us".

The "SEC being on another level" stuff is overblown too. From starting out with too many ranked teams, to soft losses, it is not a given that the SEC is on another level. Alabama and Georgia have fallen off of their previous championship highs, though they are still very good teams. Everything else is driven by the parity that has arisen in the Portal era.

Even the "unanimous #1 team" just managed to beat a 5-5 Wisconsin team by 3 points in the last 5 minutes of the game.

People are not complaining about "Alabama". They are pointing out the rapid rise of Alabama after they beat MERCER. And they are pointing out the stupidity of your precious Transitive Property.

We're currently at 8, we're not dropping lower than that if we're impressive in our next 2. That would set up an ACC Championship against another likely projected CFP team (they're currently 13th). If we lose a close game against them I can see us grabbing that last at large bid. Besides they said conference championship games shouldn't count against teams. I know we'll drop but I really doubt it would keep us out.

They will keep us out unless there's other teams that lose. I think the B1G has four locked in unless OSU collapses.

Oregon
OSU
Indiana
Penn St

ND will be there unless somehow Army beats them.

Big 12 has one with their champion
ACC has one with their champion
SEC has one with their champion and one with the runner up
G5 Team

That leaves two spots available. Georgia will get one of those spots unless they make the SEC championship and lose a 3rd game.

We are up against some stiff competition for that last spot depending on how the next two weeks go.

Texas
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
Alabama
Tennessee
Clemson

Bottom line we are going to need to win out as I don't think our resume is going to stack up well against any of those teams and quality wins. We lose we are most likely out.

Call me crazy but if we look impressive in our next 2 and lose a close one against SMU I think we still get in. Obviously not ideal cause I wanna win out but just thinking out loud.
Logically speaking and based on what they have said in terms of not punishing teams for playing their conference championship game and losing it.. I agree. But you don't want to put it in their hands.

I think they're still staging for it to happen. Already let Bama jump us while we were idle and they beat Mercer. If we don't blow out Wake and Ole Miss beats Florida convincingly, they will bump Ole Miss over us saying they were better against WF and equal against an "improved" UF team. Then, Georgia will jump us the following week because they beat GT and we didn't. Then, you're 10 instead of 8. You lose to SMU who is 13 and now you're outside looking in because they jump you and the Big 12 champ gets in and they're all outside the top 12. Doesn't even factor in the possibility the committee punishing you for a loss and letting in Tennessee or something.

When we lost to GTech we lost our wiggle room. Like you said, if we don’t run the table including ACC championship we are out.
Exactly. If Miami went 12-0 then they could afford an ACC Championship loss and still get an at large bid.

not worried about the ranking. were top 3 if we win out. and if we finish 12-1 we will end up being top 2 (id rather play in Atlanta and have a semi in the OB) so stay at 3
