Miami record against the ACC

I think I was right that both times the away team win the game though - sorry if I wasn't clear.

I completely forgot that our schollys were so low! Insane. Those Coastal years were crazy. Good trivia questions in there, although I try to black out the Golden years.
Yes, we were at just 73 players in 2009.

On paper, the Golden years were the low point in terms of blue chip players. Although I'd blame Randy Shannon for what he inherited (big outgoing class and only one blue chip player still committed).

This was due to heavy attrition, not scholarship limitations.

What a mess. All those cycles of “rebuilding” over the past 20 years are insane.

Thanks for the data.

It’s unacceptable. UNC had a better team than us maybe 4-5 times we played them. GT maybe 1-2 times. The 2019 loss to GT was beyond embarrassing. That should have been one of our worst losses in our history, but we have had so many lately that it gets shuffled in with all the rest of the bad losses.
Most losses to GT have been embarrassing and totally unacceptable. Same with UNC. As far as I'm concerned I can't wait to get those 2 back on the schedule. Until Mario starts beating those 2 teams consistently, we aren't going anywhere near our potential.

They embarrassed us pretty bad in 2014 as well. Marquis Williams disrespected us throwing the upside U. That was the birth of that disrespectful gesture if I remember correctly.
2009 against VT was the first time I saw the upside down U. I believe it was Tyrod Taylor. It was after VT scored a touchdown and he was on the sideline well after they scored. The camera panned over to him and be threw up the upside down U. I’m sure it happened in other games as well, but I can’t recall seeing it again until that 2015 game against UNC. Yeah, UNC took it to another level.

I never care about them throwing down the U. To me, it just proves they are a lesser program.

It’s kind of like when a team chants “overrated.” It doesn’t really make them look as good as they think it does, you know?

It doesn’t really bother me that much anymore. It’s so overdone and outplayed.

It did bother me at first when UNC started doing that every time we played them. Usually after they scored a TD, they would flash the upside U. Soon, other teams started copying. Now every team we play does that multiple times a game for almost any situation. They do it after a TD, turnover, stop us, big play, etc….Like wow, so original.

Had to put my phone on DND that weekend, most notifications I received from ESPN regarding a game lol like they went out the way to tell me we were getting stomped.
Hahahaha I probably would have done the same thing. Due to health issues I have pretty much no memory of the Manny years, except maybe the very beginning when we hired him.

We’ve had so many bad losses over the past 20 years though. Shouldn’t we be used to this? Were we going to win the ACC if we won this game or something? I get the yardage is insane, but was there something else on the line?

Exactly. Just like those “Sucks to be U” shirts. I find those hilarious. How insecure do you have to be to spend money on that? At least do a good design or something.

Sorry to hear, hope you are better. And that time is a bit of a blur lol but think we would have made it to the ACC championship. Can still see Williams & Carter shredding our defense.

No.

There’s no getting used to blowout losses. It was like finding oneself in a bizarre, parallel universe where Miami had somehow become bad.
