I told y'all we gettin Sherwood.... we can't take everybody somebody gonna be out

FSU is getting Sherwood? :)

How can you be so certain who fsu getting, but not the team you follow more intensely? If the kid has said he favors the nolies, post the quote, not a repeat of someones opinion. I just wanna know for certain where the kids head at because he seemed very positive in the quotes Pete provided.

Here's what is so great to recruiting a true "Athlete". Gives you the flexibility to add to spots without restrictions. When a player asks, "coach, how many kids are you looking to have at my position?", it's easy to leave the athlete out of that mix. Last year it was DJ. This year possibly Sherwood. Coach is out here playing chess not checkers.

6'4"-6'5", 225lb DB?

:monkey-serious:

Kam Chancellor is 6'3-6'4, 225. Don't see the issue.

Kam's a bit of an outlier who has thrived playing in schemes that allow him to play to his strengths inside the box, and don't ask him to play man-up or in a deep zone too often. According to someone who actually did the math back in 2013, it looks like the average NFL safety was just over 6'0" and about 205 lbs. NFL Height/Weight Chart - Imgur.

Not saying this means Sherwood can't play safety at that size, but if he's 6'4" 225, that's big for the position... big enough to be an issue depending on his overall athleticism and the scheme. As far as his possible transition to LB, I think it's telling that he'd rather play safety. I'm sure he knows he'd have to play below his pads, taking on (or avoiding) bigger blockers with leverage and technique as an LB. You have to have a certain mentally to want to make your living that way. I said it recently and I will say it again, projecting safeties to LB is a tough ask.

p.s.- Tyrann Mathieu is about 5'9" 185 (in shoes... soaking wet). Outliers exist on both sides of the height/weight fence.

Has anyone seen him play live? I'm curious about his speed. I thought ESPN listed his 40 as 4.9+ and the tape is difficult to judge bc the competition looks awful.

He'll be a LT here. Kid is already 6'3", 195 lbs. He'll grow at least 4 more inches before college, and he'll certainly gain at least 135 lbs. LT all the way.

I was actually thinking DT. 1 tech to be specific. All he has to do is put on about 120 lbs and boom all of a sudden Silvera has some legit competition.

IMHO, recruiting Sherwood as an "Athlete" or as a LB makes so much more sense. Watching him on film I like his athleticism, versatility, striking ability and ball skills. Having said that Sherwood is nowhere close to being on the same level as Jobe, Hall, Frierson etc..as a safety prospect. I don't think he possesses the speed and the fluidity in space that our elite safety prospects possess. Now if you project him to LB everything changes. I see Sherwood as an excellent LB prospect that should grow into a 6'4"-6'5" 225+ lbs OLB who can locate the ball, run sideline to sideline and strike his target with authority. Would be a great fit at Sam in Diaz's scheme. He desperately needs a solid year or two in the weight room with Felder but no question he has the tools and skill set Diaz is looking for.
