DJ was one guy. He was not the only one. And not specifically to California. The point is that in my experience we've had more issues with guys from out of state than we've had from our back yard. And it makes sense... they come here with very little support structure beyond the football team. So when football doesn't go well, everything falls apart.

Arthur Brown was a disaster. Seantrel Henderson didn't live up to his potential and almost transferred. With more thought I could probably go on and on.

The statement wasn't "let's not take another guy from Cali again." But look at Miami RB's of the past:

Gore - Miami
Edge - Immokalee
Portis - Gainesville
Miller - Miami
Duke - Miami
Homer - WPB
Walton - Miami

It works. Stick with it.

And we all know DJ Johnson didn't leave because he was homesick. It was because he and Kool didn't get along and Garvin was taking his shine.

That said, this is a 2020 kid and that's too far out to be worried about his interest but you gotta like that our brand is so hot right now that 5*s are looking through there recruiting mail bags off about 100 offers and being disturbed that they didn't get a U offer. That wouldn't have happened 4-5 years ago.

Jesus y'all need a reading comprehension lesson. I never said tell him to "F off." All I said was I'd much rather have/focus on Chaney. If we're taking two RB's, take Chaney and THEN an OOS dude.

What exactly do "we all know" about DJ? Unless he told you, you don't know jack.

Because we've had about a billion amazing RB's and I'm stoned more often than not?

Sorry. I'm the first person to say McGahee is massively underrated as a college RB and suffered the biggest Heisman slight ever.

If you don't get that South Florida players are better than the rest of the country, and that the stats have proven it over and over and over, likewise.

See... this is my point. A lot of people have already said he was from Kansas. And balled out at K State. But sure didn't at Miami. He's another PERFECT example, a la DJ Johnson, of dudes who weren't from anywhere nearby and couldn't hack it in South Florida. BOTH five star guys. BOTH were getting beat out by lower-rated South Florida guys.

That is the entire point of my initial post.

If we are going to get kids from Cali I only want LA county Public School kids, Bay Area Public school or kids from the Trinity League in Orange County.

Not a Big Fish Small pond kid from Sacramento.

I honestly think legalization of marijuana will curb overall alcohol use. Not just because it's one thing to be stoned or drunk but a different thing to be both. But because when MJ is put up against alcohol in terms of the benefits and detriments to your body, MJ seems like a far better option.
