Miami lands premier WR Hightower

Brian Hightower is the biggest get so far in this class. You have a Cali kid who is a stud playing for an elite Academy. Under the previous staffs these kids never even considered Miami and would be making plays at Clemson or the Bamas of the world. I am super stoked that he is a Cane . My fav receivers

1. Mark Pope
2. Brian Hightower
3. Xavier Wiliams

Richt already has his 1a and 1b locked up ! Welcome to the U !

P.S Hey Brooklyndee is Hightower going to shut down his recruitment like a Lingard?

In all reality yes. He's not the type of kid who will flat out ignore or disrespect coaches etc. He was very much raised properly. However as I've said before he's an early enrollee. Due to img schedule he will only have 1 week off before it's time to enroll in school. He'll be with me for spring. Regardless of everything else he's very much a man of his word. All we've talked about for years is when he is ready to make a announcement he needs to be 100 percent on board. We don't go back & forth.

You gonna be training him?

He doesn't have to ignore or disrespect coaches to shut down his recruitment. He can tell them that he's made his decision and he would appreciate it if they refrained from contacting him at this point.

No disrespect but that's not reality bruh. As a big time recruits no matter what you tell a staff they gonna keep calling. At worst they just switch the person behind contacting you. Until pen hits paper they gonna try. For instance the couple days leading up to his announcement he spent contacting the coaches at each of the programs he liked & respected the most to let them know he made a commitment. He appreciated there trust in him & wished them the best moving forward. That turned into 8 Skype calls to me & his mother from urban meyer, numerous from dabo, numerous from helton, mora, fedora, jimbo,Jeff scott etc. And that's just to name a few. These people dont respect a kids wishes. They just say he doesn't know any better & keep at it.

That's why Urban Meyer doesn't want an early signing period, so he can nag and bag kids til the end

I wonder if a recruit has ever taken out a restraining order against a university.

Another aspect of this class that has flown a bit under the radar is that these high level guys that have committed early sound like high character individuals which is a breath of fresh air when it comes to recruiting. Awesome stuff.

On the topic of what Brooklyn was talking about. The measurables vary from camp to camp. Saw it last year and again this year.

Artur was verified 6'5" in Orlando and a week later verified at 6'6" in Miami.

I've been to these events before, the entry (headshots and height & weigh in) are rushed.

As for the forties at these camps, don't take them 100% as gospel. Some of these kids havn't been trained to run the forty like they do for the NFL combine. Clock will start at any first movement with the laser.
No excuse for the kids who run track too tho...they shouldnt need any 40 training

With all due respect, I'm not sure running track trains you for running the 40 yard dash where the clock starts on your first movement as opposed to the sound of the gun in track. The clock in the 40 yard dash (when electronic timing devices (including the start)) begins when the athlete raises his hand off the hand pad (when they use an hand actuated timing system). It is my understanding that when they train you to run the 40 yard dash, they teach you how to get your body moving before your hand comes off the hand pad. That is not the case in track where the race and clock are started by a starting gun.
Thats true. Didnt think about that

You'll handle things however you want, but after being respectful and telling them he is committed to UM there's no reason to keep fielding those calls and Skypes. Lose their contact info. At some point, it's them being disrespectful to him.

Holy ****, thank you. Anyone so vehemently swearing by the measurements and times at these camps is completely full of ****. The Tee guy, I mean dude I'm glad you have worked at one before, but plenty of people acknowledge the stuff is rushed and it varies a lot from camp to camp. No way around that, so coming in here and arguing with a guy about how tall and fast his OWN GOD**** NEPHEW is makes you look like an absolute buffoon. Period.

agreed. in addition to pete's connection to the program side, recruiting insight on this board has been great the last couple years w family members providing insight on the player side.

At a minimum, brooklyndee is the only guy on this board who has actually been in a room with Hightower while he was having measurements taken. Not sure why people would push the issue with him.
