After ND & UF what defense on our schedule represents a huge challenge ? Nickel shows good ability to process info at his current level, having all spring + summer should only help him. But ultimately I prefer an experienced arm on field next year.

I don't know what we do if we don't get Mateer, but either way I don't think less than 9 wins is acceptable. 9-10 every year and some CFP appearances is a good trajectory compared to where we were since I was a kid. If we get that over the next 5 years I'll enjoy more than I have in the past. I'll enjoy highlights from this season in the off season more than I have since my 3 kids have been born. My point is that the narrative that he's an overrated recruiter that's been taking off here is a lil ridiculous considering he recruited the best QB to ever play here just last cycle, his coaching/coordinator hires etc. is another story but thats not what im talking about im strictly talking recruiting/bringing in talent.

i dont think hes an overrated recruiter. i think he has not been a great developer of talent or at least identification of talent. the evidence by that is the bust rate of the 23 class (the limited 22 class) and well see how 24 develops. mario can get kids in but development has been an issue here outside of OL. there is tangible evidence of that here and at oregon at certain positions. mario does deserve credit for landing ward.
