Miami is expected to hire Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

As a Hurricane fan I can say its much easier to roll with the negative on a hire , recruit or the season. The stats show most of this stuff ends badly. Being a mope is the smarter route statistically. But I’ll put my name on this one , I love this hire and I’d be shocked if it flops. This is the best hire Mario has made imo. Which isn’t saying a lot but still.
Big statement when you think about Dawson coaching up the #1 O in the land.

Alright, gimme a way too early prediction for the season: how many games do we win next year?

Moreso than Dawson? Impressive.

Minnesota was a tough out this year. His worst game was ironically against Schiano which makes sense right? We all got excited about Guidry against ND but body of work Hetherman routinely had his team clamping much better teams

Learned my lesson by now not to say too much but on paper I agree

I’m seeing it the same way

If we can have a fundamentally and technically sound defense, with top 15 athletes, we would be in the CFP

If we can continue producing on offense, Hetherman should have the Defense as a nice compliment

"I think that's what kind of molded my philosophy a little bit, but the other thing is the players. In 2018 at Maine and then 2019 at James Madison, we had two great teams...but the defense's were very different. And a lot of it was trying to adapt to our players. In one of those defenses, our linebacker was 6-2 and 245 lbs who played for the Bengals the next year. The following year, our guy is 5-11, 185 lbs and he's a nickel, more or less, trying to play the same roles.

And it really about how do we get our best 11 players onto the field. And then getting those guys to buy into the culture, and that message that we're sending."

""Hetherman was an integral part of the coaching staff who was well respected by players and coaches. There were even rumors that he would be in line to be Rutgers’ next DC if Joe Harasymiak had accepted a head coaching position elsewhere," Deren told GopherIllustrated. "Head coach Greg Schiano has always spoken highly of Hetherman and it goes beyond coach speak. He is considered a rising star in the profession and also did a very good job recruiting. Hetherman is a players’ coach and it is more than just his position group that thinks highly of him. The Rutgers linebackers enjoyed a pattern of progress under his direction, and proved to be one of the strongest position groups on the entire team.""
