Miami Releases 2016 Football Schedule - University of Miami Hurricanes Official Athletic Site

"The schedule also features a challenging four game non-conference slate, which includes a trip to Notre Dame (Oct. 29)." Challenging for who? Our opponents? lol No way they could type that with a straight face. Outside of Notre Dame, the OOC schedule this season is atrocious. I'm sure Boone, NC will be nice and scenic in mid-September but that's about all we get out of that trip. The home schedule in general is atrocious. Outside of the FSU and, to a much lesser degree, the UNC game there really isn't any compelling matchups. The athletic department is lucky they hired Richt because it should lead to a ticket sales bump this season. Otherwise, there isn't any reason to buy season tickets this year. And can you imagine if somehow we had retained Golden with this home schedule? Sunlife would be a ghost town. The only stretch that has me concerned is the back to back UNC and VT games. We will be traveling into Blacksburg on a Thursday night with only 5 days rest! Not that VT will be world beaters next season, but it's always tough to play there and with only 5 days to prepare it will be very tough. Overall, an underwhelming schedule that should result in no less than 10 wins (before the Bowl game). And with the kids we have returning, I'm also expecting an ACC Coastal title and ACC championship game appearance (finally!).

Also, the bye week is oddly placed. It should (logically) come during that challenging October stretch. More specifically, it should take place before our Thursday night game @ VT so we won't be playing on short rest. Who sets the bye week? The school or the ACC?

What a pathetic first quarter. Richt is lucky to have three practice games in order to install the new offense and defense.

Best possible outcome, I could've hoped for (3 easier games and the open week). By the time we play GT and FSU the offense and defense will have ironed out all the kinks and will be ready.

You guys can hate on me all you want, and down vote me if you must, but I'm going to tell you this right now: If we beat FSU at home and is 5-0 at that time, I'm going to start to dream...and dream big.

And I think the team will to

11-1 at the worst. Fsu has no qb. ND is the toughest game.

Word on the street is FSU's young RS freshman QB is supposedly the real deal. FSU is going to be tough, as always. We just need to play smart on defense for once in the last 5 years, and take away Cook, come **** or high water

1. Three cupcakes and a bye to start to season, which allows the new offensive and defensive philosophies to congeal
2. Richt played GT every year for 15 years (has only lost them them twice in 15 years)and he knows how to prepare for their option attack
3. FSU at home -- and we will have a veteran squad and a 3 year starter- Heisman hopeful - at QB
4. Nine days to prepare and be rested for a VT team that will be starting a new QB and deploying a new offensive system
5. Nine days to prepare and be rested for ND

I'm failing to see the issue. This schedule can't be more perfect for Miami.

They do not have 9 days to prepare for VT. They play UNC on 10/15 and then travel to Blacksburg to play VT on 10/20. Then they go to South Bend on 10/29. Three games (with two on the road) against three pretty tough opponents in 15 days.

Hopefully can get 7-8 wins to of that schedule.

lol. 108 posts seems like a lot of time to invest pretending to be a fan of a rival team. At least the other poster was only like 16 into it.

Plus playing VT and UNC in five days will rack up injuries. Both offenses will run and fast paced spread with 100+ plays called

Yep. Teams on the schedule aint all that tough (3 OOC cupcakes and NCST as one of the Atlantic opponents). But playing UNC, VT, and ND, with 5 days rest before the freaking road game at VT, and all coming AFTER a big rivalry game against FSU, is just retarded scheduling, whether it's Blake's fault or the ACC.

The entire season hinges on the UNC-VT games played within 5 days of each other, with FSU before them and ND after them. If we lose both of those Coastal matchups, we're going to be in deep shi* when it comes to the ACCCG qualifying tiebreakers. Must win at least ONE of those two games.
