  • Thinks we'll have 3 by Wednesday
  • He knows for sure on one
  • Unclear about the timeline for the other two
  • Predicts at least two recruits won't commit until they find out if Miami is getting Mateer

24 HS Recruiting Cycle Trends

  • Miami was playing defense, schools were making hard runs at all of our commits. Unable to go on offense
  • Pickett picked L$U because of Raymond, surprised Flo
  • Mario making sure his blue chip ratio is right
  • There's an alarming trend of 5* going into the portal

If I didn't know better, this reads like Mateer was on campus this weekend as a silent. Unless there's an even bigger fish about to jump into the portal.

I couldn't imagine someone from another team being on campus without first entering the portal.

It's not outside the realm of possibilities but it would be WILD

I believe it can be up to 48 hours before the news becomes public. The timeline is possible.

I'm no portal guru but I suspect the paperwork has to be at least filed before visits happen. But yea, that was my first thought also.

My thought as well but if true 1. it would prob be nuked and 2. it would be that much more hilarious if everything reported thus far is true... OU is a done deal, he was deciding with his family saturday/sunday night on what to do etc.

I also wonder how much this happens on a friendship level (innocent or not) and if that is some type of workaround? Like when I was in school I visited friends at their campus regularly. What if Mateer just happened to have xmas vaca in Miami (city) and decided to hit up his old buddy and mentor Cam and popped up on campus?

That aspect would definitely be legal and would also tie in with Flo's commentary that Cam's role in this recruitment is being vastly underestimated. The one problem with that theory though is Cam was in NYC for the Heisman ceremony, LOL.

We've had multiple recruits/portal candidates vacation in Miami and then stop by the Gables while in the 305.

Yea, it’s not illegal for him to go on campus but he absolutely cannot talk to any staff. Also Cam was in NY

Also this very likely can and will be a scenario in the future. Just happened to be “in the city” locking down their NIL details while still on another team
