Miami Flo's Predictions

Everyone uses the portal but need to use it for top end talent only.

Next years needs.

QB
(2) OL
Depending on Mesidor (1) DE (1) DT
(1) LB
(2) CB
(1) S
(1) WR

There is 10 right there. I could see 8-12 transfers being needed.
We need entire defense and staff maybe?

What top program doesn’t use the portal regularly at this point?
That's not what you said hermano... You said elite programs are elite in high school recruiting AND elite in portal usage... That's very different from using the portal. The portal at all ELITE schools is used to supplement a already elite roster. Will there be exceptions from time to time? Of course. Like Ohio State this season. They went insane in the portal cause theyve been basic at most positions at the high school level except a few. But it's an exception not a rule.

He did, he said someone was coming and it was somebody big that nobody expected. They were just waiting for the papers to go thru before they made it official. A few days later or maybe even the next day it was Justin Scott
That's not who we were waiting on papers to come through for. We moved Scott's timeline up because someone else WHO WAS A BIG FISH fell through. But my bad for all of this. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade. People should always follow the people they believe in.

Not at all. I actually appreciate the corrected info. I didn't know any of this

When i say elite portal usage i mean using the portal to upgrade the roster get talent to improve your roster every year, maybe you thinking i mean get a bunch of players every year..

When u say we dont want to rely on it or be a mike norvel or deion, im saying you are viewing the portal in a negative light already because the elite programs are elite at both. Thats why i said i dont mean just getting a whole **** roster out of the portal lol

Whatever your roster needs you should be in the portal looking to improve and upgrade every year. That doesn’t mean neglect hs recruiting, im saying it all falls under the talent acquisition umbrella so they should be priorities

Its just the math. I do not and have not questioned Mario's recruiting.

I've messed with the calculator and tried multiple times.

If we got Wiley, flipped Pickett, Carter, Alford and Hanks and then somehow pulled a monster out of left field like #7 overall Justus Terry, we'd still likely max out at 7th.

Getting to 7th is probably our best case scenario. BUT who knows where we'll finish once portal additions are added in. Sky's the limit there.
I see your point and getting a top 5 class is an exciting thing for any fan, myself included. However, if we finish with Hanks, Pickett, Wiley, Alford and Carter, I don't give a rip what the calculator says. In that scenario the math could have us locked in at 10 or even 11 and wouldn't give a toss.

Top10 transfer rankings last cycle 2024:
1. Ole Miss
2. Oregon
3. Bama
4.TxA&M
5. Texas
6. Uf
7. nolies
8. Colorado
9. OSU
10. Miami

8 of 10 are currently ranked in the polls, top 17. At least 5 make the playoffs and the odds are one these 10 wins the whole enchilada.
Conclusions: one team, nolies, relied heavy transfer and you see the outcome this season as they could not keep up with the high transfer hit rate and the high school recruiting has been meh. Another heavy portal is Colorado who I predict will have a significant drop next season as HS recruiting has not come close to elite for Deon. The top dogs are Bama, Oregon, Texas, and OSU. Dominant at both HS and transfer talent. The unknown to date is TxA&M, Ole Miss, Miami, and Uf going forward due to past inconsistencies in either HS recruiting or transfers, lack of player development, and underwhelming coaching.

BTW, UGA came in at #14. Very little transfer activity. Lastly, Clemson. We all know the story here and the ultimate outlier in the New World College Football Order.

I was just told other day Clemson is going to use portal this offseason. They dabbled last season brought some portal kids in for visits, just didnt land. They are going to be more aggressive this offseason with it.

Clemson really likes their freshman and sophmore classes, and I think if they can land some veteran help in portal they can make a run next season. They open with LSU at home.

They need a RB, OL, DE, DT, for sure.

Adapt or die.

Clemson's issue is money. They don't have boosters throwing it around the way other schools do. Its not that Dabo refuses to adapt. He's just selling it the only way he can without admitting they're broke.

Unless they've got the funding, they're probably just going into the portal for depth.
