Miami facilities in midst of upgrades

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

******* ******* *******

What exactly is untrue about my statement? They spent a ton of money on a BBall stadium while we had high school level football facilities, and high school level coaches, and then wondered why the greatest program in the previous quarter century turned to a pile of ****.

Just curious, how much have you donated to the program? Serious question, not trying to be an *******.

Those pics of the facilities look good. 16 million dollar renovations is substantial. This is a great time to be a canes fan. Future is bright for football, basketball and hopefully baseball

Guys - I work for UM in the Facilities Design & Construction Department. We are building a lot more than just this! The new student union is state of the art! There are numerous projects going on to improve not just our athletic facilities, but our educational facilities as well. Cox Science is getting a huge addition, the Nursing School is getting an addition designed, etc... We have one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation. Not to mention the work we are doing on the medical and marine campus. We are in construction of a new building at the marine school - a great project... When people talk facilities, it should be about the entire University!

Those aren't walls. They are 3Form glass which isn't strong enough to support tvs. 3Form glass is about 5/8" thick and will not allow for electric or low voltage wiring to be installed. This particular product is translucent as well.

Everyone - I have extra pictures. If you DM me, I can email you some more. I took a picture of Duke's and DPs locker...

I agree, the TV's on the tv stands do look a little cheezy but, according to this video, (at 3:15) there is another area of the lounge not pictured in my other post where there's a wall that will have multiple TV's mounted to it.

If that's the case then the area with the mounted TV's could probably be considered the main, more active area (probably where the guys would play video games, pool, ect) while the area pictured in my other post might be designed as the more laid back area (mostly for relaxing and watching tv) and that could explain why it may resemble a living room with the TV's on the stands.

Thanks for the detailed info. What's the purpose of said glass? Aesthetics only?

Looks like that are on tracks so they can be moved and create one large room when needed

Ah. Thank you. Couldn't see that on my phone.

Well, it's a nicer way to separate the room without building walls and letting light to continue thru the space. Yes, primarily for aesthetics. What you see at the top and bottom aren't tracks but, aluminum frames to keep them in place so they can't move.
The product is really flimsy and is easy to bend. The installation is still being questioned whether we should install aluminum frames on the sides and in between the 3Form glass to make it more rigid.
