he retired in 2018. curious to see his return to football, obviously an analyst position is less work, but i wonder what compelled an 80 year old guy to return to football.
The Canes have added one of the most respected wide receivers coaches on the planet to its extended staff in Jerry Sullivan. A 25-year NFL veteran and Miami native (Jackson high school), Sullivan has been working with the receivers and WR coach Kevin Beard throughout camp.
He is considered by many to be the greatest wide receivers coach of all time, working with Pro Bowlers Anthony Miller (1992-93), Tony Martin (1996), Herman Moore (1997-98), Germaine Crowell (1999), David Boston (2001), Anquan Boldin (2003); Allen Robinson (2015).
Larry Fitzgerald, an All-Pro and future Pro Football Hall of Fame, credits Sullivan for helping groom him into one of the top wide receivers in NFL history. An article on his work with Justin Jefferson, who calls him his sensei, is below:

I doubt Mario goes anywhere as long as he’s successful. He’s like our Bobby BowdenExcited to have him here to work with beard and our receivers. Anyone with his track record is always welcome. Keep adding and building Mario knows how it works. That ex coach up in Alabama got a lot of things done the same way. I hated when Mario went to work for him but he learned a bunch. I really hope that the team wins a bunch this year. If they do things will start to roll. Everything is good now add some big win’s and the recruits will be knocking down the door and hopefull The coaches will stay for a few years to build stability. It would be nice to see Mario here for at least ten years.
Maybe he’s still married after all these yearsI wonder what compelled an 80 year old guy to return to football.
Does he have a wife? That would explain it.he retired in 2018. curious to see his return to football, obviously an analyst position is less work, but i wonder what compelled an 80 year old guy to return to football.
per the Athletic article cited, he came out of retirement once before, in 2017, when asked by Coach Orgeron to to come to LSU as an analyst to coach up Justin Jefferson.Does he have a wife? That would explain it.
Which position group?I think there’s one more guy on the defense that could come onboard.
Not sure if it’ll get as much fanfare, but would be massive should this guy accept.
thanks.per the Athletic article cited, he came out of retirement once before, in 2017, when asked by Coach Orgeron to to come to LSU as an analyst to coach up Justin Jefferson.

But can he relate to the kids? If he worked with Herman more he might be like 55-65 yrs old. Asking for a friend.

He is around the program, but lives in Georgia....and it's Reed..not Reid. What’s up with Ed Reid now days? He needs to be around the program. One of the best and a great motivator
He’s trying to get this **** right! Now if he just learned some game management skills……
