Except that: (1) it puts the labor of aggregating the information on one person; (2) most of the maudes/mods have enough on our plates herding cats and maintaining a semblance of decorum; and (3) posters would just start their own threads anyway.

Taking it a step further, I don't even think it should be pinned. Pinning just hides threads in plain site. No one's eyes start at the pinned posts. Let the marketplace keep it bumping towards the top of the board. If it's a big topic, and this is, it will do just fine!
