Why aren't we better in these two areas? There is a lot of love for the U out there, especially with the parents and uncles of a lot of these kids. I lived in Silver Spring for a few years and there was Miami stuff everywhere.

Just an example for the hip-hop fans, Wale (DC) is a huge Canes fan and there was a picture of a young 2 Chainz in full 'Canes gear.

Any explanation for why we aren't pulling kids from these spots?

im guessing the same reason as everywhere else: sanctions plus mediocrity since these kids remember, but no fear, al golden is here!

South Dallas loves the U. Never understand why the presence is so thin, especially with the Horns down.

We havent been successful out there for multiple reasons. First we have sucked, think about it. Have we been much better than Maryland, GT, or UGA the last 8 or so years? Maryland yeah, but even they have beaten us which is embarrassing. The only time we have had any momentum in recruiting was 08 when RS first got here, and that was a year where we went balls out locally because it was a strong class on paper in SF. Both Diggs and Goldman were considered Cane leans, but the investigation blew up in our face. On top of that once again for whatever reasons we did not win in 2011, the year those two were recruited. ****ie boy didnt really blow up til about 2011 anyway. Before that he was just some dude in a group that had Weezy on a hook. Wale, well I mean cmon, he isnt that big to begin with. Once we win everything will fall in line. I still think it is a testament to the legacy of the program that we continue to recruit the way we did the last couple years.

My neck of the woods DMoney, and I agree with you wholeheartedly about us having a lot of love up here. Having read only your post I'll say that Stephon Diggs would be a Cane right now if the NCAA hadn't spoiled that for us. Wes probably would have as well. When did you leave in Silver Spring?

Where do you live, bird?

I left in 2010 after school. Lived right in front of the Discovery building. Also lived in Chinatown in DC and Mount Vernon in Baltimore. I always saw Miami gear out there, especially with people in that 30-45 year old generation.

Who was the linebacker from DC who was committed to us for a while and ended up at Maryland I believe? Name escapes me right now. 2011 or 2012 class.

1.every team in the country recruits Metro Atlanta especially the SEC its hard to be good there
2 Do you have assistant coaches with connection to Atlanta or DC ? Those are two areas where your staff needs to have good connections

This. SMH NCAA messed up everything. Remember there was so much momentum for recruiting and then the supposed "Shapiro scandal" broke. There was a kid out of Norcross that year UM would have gotten if it where not for that sanction talk. ****.

Dmoni.. its nothing but Canes in Baltimore/DC area... we here dog!

Question is they say a lot of colleges in between. No brand loyalty not even to Maryland. Locksley helps Edsall get diggs and co.

Miami needs to be canvassing South Florida and picking its spots everywhere.

Miami does not have the resources or time to recruit DC or Atlanta hard enough for them to be pipelines.

I would love to have that DC area...one kid a year would suffice...they always seem to have a game changer on one side of the ball

Focus on the metro atlanta area...those kids are up for grabs.....

* We need to recruit Stephenson high and surrounding area...theres a bunch of big time football played on the eastside of atl
* GT is a non factor...the problem is when uga offers metro atl guys their locks...and auburn likes to come in an scrap up..you;'; also see bama a bit too...
* Actually think we have a few connects up there too....i know Brett Perriman moved up there not sure if hes still coaching..Derrick Crudup was....

METRO ATL kids love the city feel in miami....

It wouldn't be as hard as you think.

DC isn't your typical recruiting ground. First, there's a lot of talent, but there isn't a traditional football power within 5 hours of the city (VT), which is why the top kids go all over (Haden/Jenkins to UF, Darby/Goldman to FSU, Benn/Vontae to Illinois, etc). Because there isn't a local power, and because DC is such a transplant city, there isn't any pressure to stay local and waste away at Maryland (local coaches love Locksley, but hate Edsall). Second, a lot of kids here grow up Miami fans because their pops and uncles have been fans since the 80s. Ask a 35+ brotha who he roots for and I bet he says Hoyas and Canes. They love the U in the DMV.

It's a shame the threat of sanctions cost us Diggs and Goldman. Start winning and top DC area kids won't be spending their 3-4 years around country *** bammas in Tallahassee and Tuscaloosa, they'll be here.

Another thing to remember about DC and B'more kids is the top pros in their towns growing up were Canes. Lewis, Reed, Taylor, Portis, Moss. Don't think that doesn't affect how they view Miami.

Definitely some Canes swag in metro Atlanta, but the pecking order is Georgia, Auburn (less than 2 hour drive), Clemson (less than 2 hour drive), Alabama and then the rest of the SEC. GT struggles with metro Atlanta and no love for ****y Paul. Nice job getting Kirby, but don't see Canes having a chance to regularly pulling top kids.

Atlanta doesn't produce as much talent as you would think. That has been starting to change but in the past South Georgia schools and schools from Gwinnett County have had the big time players. These kids now want to play in the SEC so it is going to be difficult.
