If this kid was set on playing offense he's not good enough for us, at least not yet. I like his potential still and worst case we can keep tabs on him. Maybe he will blow up physically and we can revisit.

Win/win. Good luck to the kid. ... Now let's close with Ishamel and NRK (in the next Tarantula).

Funny thing is that he’ll be playing defense once he gets to whatever school he goes to.
I swear this happened more times than I could count in the early to late 2000s with kids who we were recruting at WR or RB or DB all wanting to play QB. The FSUs and UFs and whoever would promise them a shot at QB and they'd quickly realize they couldn't play QB and then they were fine playing the right position. Makes me wonder why we didn't just bull**** them like the other schools, who never really paid a price for doing it.

I agree, some school or schools are definitely blowing smoke up his backside telling him he can play WR/TE right now. Moment he steps on campus as a student-athlete, he'll be working with the defensive ends permanently.

Kid from the west coast who fits the usual frame and athleticism (basketball background) we covet

Thread on him just below this one... it’s a battle of us, OU, and maybe Stanford if they offer

If Stanford offers NRK it's a wrap for his recruitment he will be staying out west.

Go Canes

As left leaning as Stanford is wouldn’t surprise me if they shut down all athletic sports for the year...

Might make this an easy young choice for the young man to head east

Hey, what do you and our coaches know, LCE? This kid knows what he should play in college better than college coaches. :)

Lets not forget;
-Mark Richt thought Cam Newton was a TE, and he wasn't the only one.
-NFL analyst swore up and down Lamar Jackson would maximize his potential as a slot WR.
-Ryan Tannehill broke records at WR while begging his coaches to let him play QB, got beat out at the QB spot for 3 years before he finally started.

These guys are outliers, but I'll never knock a kid in foresight if he strongly believes he can succeed elsewhere. Sometimes you just gotta let them try and fail, or fail until they succeed. Wouldn't hurt to take this kid as a WR and switch him back to DE when we prove him wrong, or let him prove us wrong.

There’s a lot more future money to be made at Rush than TE.

Absolutely shouldn't take kids if any questions about motivation or toughness (according to the gospel of Saban). That laziness will infect the team.

Regarding NRK- if down to MIA, OU, and Stanford, I wonder if the word that Cali schools aren't playing football pretty much eliminates them from the competition? As for Miami v UO- I I think that's the Jalen Hurts argument in reverse. He could probably but up decent numbers in UOs defense but he would put up monster stats in a Miami defense. Miami is the better business decision for a DE with NFL dreams. Lets see Rosseau hit 15+ sacks again this year and shouldn't have a problem landing that young man.

Only schools connected to the CSU system are effected. That includes San Diego State, Fresno State, and San Jose State. They will
still have online classes.

Stanford and USC are private
UCLA and Cal are part of the UC system and they arent cancelled yet.

Also the counter of I still think Cam would have been a b east TE (QB has obviously worked out fine for him)
Lamar would still be a bad *** slot guy (obviously QB is starting off great for him, just don't want to see him go the RGIII route)
and Tannehill might be just as ****** of a WR as he is a QB

Saban is a d*ck, of the highest order. But it doesn't mean he's wrong.

I agree 100%.

At UM, we should rebrand this the "Jeff Thomas Rule"

I didn’t even care for him at DE compared to others out there... if he is **** bent on playing some Jumbo WR so be it... for every exception you mentioned...

You have your more common Tyler Birds of the world that should have stuck to their money positions.

Tannehill was that good as a wr? I thought they switched him to qb cause he wasn't great at wr. That is pretty interesting.

Edit-Just did some reading. I didn't realize he was what good. I guess he still made the right move switching though-being drafted first round and on his second big contract.
