Mesidor...?

Here's the comment I replied to:

"Sam Brown needs to go. He's taking snaps from the freshman who should be playing."

I made mention of this being a Mesidor thread, which is totally fair. I then asked the commenter what makes him qualified to say that the freshmen should be playing over Brown. If he's at the practices, then say so. Otherwise the comment he made is based on nothing more than presumption. It's cliché and lazy.

Regarding my satisfaction with Brown, I thought he was mid; nothing special. Do I think he took snaps from freshmen who should be playing? Eh, I don't know that. Would I have liked to have seen Ny Carr and Jojo more, sure I guess; but only if I knew they were appreciably better than Brown. Unless I'm watching them practice, train and study, how can I possibly know that? Having an opinion is different than making declaratory statements. I read "put in the backup" the same as "bad evals" and "lack of player duhvelopment." Overblown, overused, and based on nothing more than conjecture.

If you read the last two sentences of what you wrote, you should be able to clearly see how the reader can't really object to what you wrote - it's an opinion where you included "Totally speculating" and "I hope." I'm not trying to turn this into some second rate English writing lesson here (sorry about that), but I am trying to illuminate why so many comments get disregarded. I hope this makes more sense on where I was coming from.
It’s not the first and It won’t be the last time someone thinks a productive player is stealing snaps from a younger player who hasn’t done anything yet. It’s a rite of passage here for posters to push guys out for younger players they assume are much better but have nothing to base that assumption on. Just last year, Restrepo, Kinchens and Williams were stealing snaps from younger, better players according to quite a few people here.

Was Brown great? Not really. But he was productive as essentially our WR4. We’re not exactly bringing back a bunch of experienced players at the position either. We could use another guy who’s actually played a lot of snaps. If he gets passed on the depth chart by a younger guy, fine but I’m not assuming we have a bunch of guys who are better.

Totally agree. Had the comment I attacked been on a Sam Brown thread or had the commenter used any sort of phrase like "in my opinion," I likely wouldn't have commented.

I also haven't gotten laid in about a week, so I'm a little crabbier than normal. Mrs. Cincinnati needs a reminder than Santa is cumming....or at least should be.

I was griping all year about him at dt. They move him to De he instantly gets a sack. Then later drop him into coverage against a rb. **** you Lance
we should have kicked the other guy inside ... but that's a grown folks conversations that most people don't want to have

Miami Hurricanes. Assuming he returns.

Not sure why so many can't comprehend a player having a turn around year after struggling. We've had multiple over the years. The talent is there.
don't want to derail the thread ... but what about his game gives you such hope? he left multiple td's on the table and he his drop count increased as the year went on ... tbh, it was the lackadaisical effort on scoring opportunities that killed me

Gut feeling. Common in ball. Sometimes, it's just your time. Not the best defense but just being honest. Confidence is everything. Just needs success early. Completely agree on his lack of urgency. Maddening. Hopefully that comes with maturity & some success.

Could be wrong. Might be a dud.

Gun to head, I'd bet on it.

He could end up in CFL whose draft will happen in spring 2025 since he is from Ottawa Ontario where I am living now. Just a thought.

Mesidor should absolutely return for another year. Sam Brown can fook off. He wasn't trying out there, it was obvious
Mesidor could use a season where he plays more DE than dt imo. Kid stepped up when we needed a guy inside but feel like he’s better suited as a de who can move inside on passing downs.
