But it’s not just that he’s been terrible in the run game, he’s been equally as bad against the pass.

Very disappointing from a kid who played in a lot of big games last year.

Be curious to go back & see how he played in those games. Is he being asked to do more or different responsibility? He’s almost unplayable at this point.

Yeah, problem is staff’s saying he’s the best we got. Frightening thought. Everyone screamed a week ago for #20, but he was out of camera view on a couple key passes vs. GT - 3rd & 18 found him drop 30 yds deep.

Matt Lee and Cohen were pretty **** good for Miami last year. They were highly sought after in the portal.

You and @AlexCane are correct. Some guys hit it for opportunity and/or nil.at the same time, a LOT of castoffs are in there too. For every Brashard Smith we’ve sent out, there’s been 3 DeShawn Troutmans.

Better Talent evaluation is all we want, quit throwing good money at a bad product

Outside of the occasional situation like Caleb Downs, relying on getting a premier safety in the portal is a fool’s errand.

Unfortunately for us though, Meesh Powell isn’t even average. Boy fell out of the “cheeks” tree and hit every branch on the way down.

This 2025 DB class cannot get here fast enough.

Agreed. The bigger issue is HS recruiting/roster construction. IMO, the key to next year (in relation to the secondary) isn't the portal, it's hoping that kids like Dylan Day, Ryan Mack, Zaquan, Isaiah Thomas, Robby Washinton, etc. all take next steps.
