Once we get the QB position stabilized and add more OL depth, this team is going to be a real motherf***er for other teams to go against.

My take on it is pretty simple.

Who's their quarterback? Either a guy who hasn't played a full game since December 2016 or a 170 lbs Sophomore who wasn't ready to play under a very good QB coach in Jimbo Fisher. And neither of these options are good fits for Willie Taggart's offense.

I also don't think they're loaded. They went 7-6 last year and lost 6 players early to the draft. Which means that all of their draft eligible juniors decided to get out of dodge.

Their offensive line is going to be porous and their defense is swiss cheese compared to even last year.

And their coaching staff isn't even remotely impressive. They have a 34 year old offensive coordinator who 8 years ago was a grad assistant at a G5 school.

Unproven maybe. But you don’t think they have their own Gerald Willis’ and Evidence Njoku’s that their board is hype about?

All I’m saying is we shouldn’t overlook them. It’ll be a war as usual when we play them. I couldn’t care less how they perform outside of that game.

I hear what you are saying. I don't think they re going to suck.

However, I don't know how good they can be. Their QB situation is up in the air. The have a new coaching philosophy and system which always take some time to adapt to. Their OL seems like it is not going to be much better than last season, they don't have any proven WRs to be afraid of, and they are replacing all their LBs.
I think they will lose 3-4 games based on all that uncertainty.

Even the Ministry of Propaganda, Warchant, says that their offensive line is a weakness.

So new head coach with losing record, new 34 year old offensive coordinator, unknown at quarterback and a weak offensive line?

That screams disaster.

If Taggart goes even 8-4 it would be a great season.

FSU is an enigma. On paper, they should be challenging Clemson for the Atlantic but in reality, that's a pipe dream. Jimbob loaded that roster with 4 and 5 star players but it seems like FSU has the highest bust percentage of all the big time recruiting schools. A bunch of good individuals doesn't always equal a good team. Plus Taggert is installing an offense that's lightyears away from the pro system that Fisher ran. Their quarterbacks are decent athletes but not the run first, zone read guys that Taggert prefers. They lost a lot of experience on defense and while the replacements were all highly ranked recruits, most of them have done absolutely nothing on the field. I will say that Taggert's offense will mask some of the o-line problems. They'll still struggle against the elite D-lines but they should be able to out finesse most of the league.

Their player development has been severely lacking. They may have had better recruiting rankings the last 3 years or so but when you actually break it down Miami has more talent and the difference in development is evident. Miami is more talented and have more depth at more positions than FSU has over Miami.

He's inheriting a 7-6 team that hemorrhaged graduating seniors and draft eligible juniors in the offseason.

See, I think that even their "easy" ACC games will be dog fights.

Syracuse at the Dome for first road game? Dog fight. Wake Forest under Dave Clawson? Dog fight.

Those two teams almost beat FSU last year.
 
On paper, Miami absolutely should be the Coastal favorites. The problem is, in reality, the games against these teams are never really as easy as we'd like them to be. They should all be wins, yes, but I'm not comfortable calling for a blowout in a single one of them. If we use last year as a barometer, this team has proven that it can blow a decent team out at home, when highly motivated, but it's also proven that it can lose to a terrible Pitt team, and nearly lose to an even worse UNC team.

ACC officiating also makes games a lot more, shall we say, "interesting" than they probably should be.

Lot of 5 star busts from them (prime example is Malik Henry who also happens to be a 5 star douche). They seemed to recruit rankings instead of evaluations.

They can also lose 5, 6, 7 games.

F$U's Defensive talent is still very good and their special teams are also solid so I think they can do better than 7-6 but it all depends on factors we just don't know about in July. The biggest factor being the QB situation.

I think 5 losses is the best bet.
