I'm thinking burning Lockhart's Redshirt was a move to create separation from the receivers that were brought in. Play two; Lewis and Waters, and redshirt 3 Lockhart, Jones, and Carter. That way next season there would be 2 sophomores and 3 redshirt freshman and Louis as the other freshman making 4. Or the staff had plans on using both Lewis and Lockhart this season once Lockhart grasp the playbook, therefore, having 3 freshmen wideouts and 2 redshirting with Louis coming in the spring making it 3 sophomores and 3 redshirt freshmens going into next season. When Lewis went down someone had to fill in, Thompkins couldn't so I guess Fisch said lets see what Lockhart can do, he's been making plays during practice. That way Lewis can receive a medical redshirt resulting in 3 redshirt freshmen receivers and Louis (Freshman) and 2 sophomores next season. Wouldn't make sense to have 4 freshmen wide receivers redshirting with another freshmen in Louis coming in in the spring. The you would have 5 freshmen receivers with 4 being redshirts next season.

I actually read the Lockhart news to be good. It sounds like Golden has realized that we aren't going to get much out of Lockhart this year, so maybe he got "injured" yesterday and will be able to apply for a medical hardship. He has only played in 3 or 4 games I believe.

My thought exactly
He played in the second half of the season. That means no medical is possible for him.

I don't think he qualifies for a hardship since he got injured after the 3rd game of the year.

DP couldn't run much at all after Thomas ran that draw. Watching the replay, he could barely jog.

Hardship waiver is like a redshirt?

Not really. You can only RS if you do not play a down.

If you do play a down, AND you get injured before playing a certain amount of snaps before a certain amount of games and you are out for the remainder of the year, then you are eligible for the hardship, which has to be applied for at the end of the year. IIRC.

AU has it, it's a given that he'll get it but the conference formally grants them after the season is over.

If Porter is out, it's been reported here first. If it's BS, whoever posted it should be banned.
