Max Wittek Back On The Market

You don't ever "build for the future" in college football.

Last year we did, and Morris left.

This year we'll do it, then Duke, Flowers, and Perryman will leave.

Next year we'll do it and then Coley, Howard, and maybe even Olsen leaves.

College football is far too unpredictable with who's coming and who's going that you "build for the future", you always play to win this year.

I say offer this kid a scholly. If he's the best, you play him. If he's not, he sits.

Morris leaving was the real shocker that effed up our rebuilding plan?

It wasn't a shocker, but we're clearly back at zero with the QB position.

and how exactly did we "build for the future" last season? this coaching staff was definitely all in last season. Things just took a turn for the worst when our heisman hopeful RB got hurt, our senior QB played like anything but that, and our defense...well...you guys know the rest

That's what I'm saying - you don't ever "build for the future" despite what fans think. There is always turnover, and you should be playing the best guys no matter what.

This. And i don't think it's even debateable. We are down to two QBs that have never taken a CFB snap. It would be **** near gross negligence to not try to convince this guy to come for a year. I can't even think of a downside.

Wittek would be alright in an emergency situation, but I have known for a couple week that we would have a BIG QB announcement coming from Dwayne Lawson. My close buddy (can't an won't drop names) works closely with "all" the top players in Tampa Bay area keeps me informed where they going. One other thing! Says Bama don't pay but they take care of them like royalty. Says that plus NFL and Natl Championship chances blowing their minds. He says they all interested in Miami, but cats want to live large, win championships and get to the league and Miami can't touch that. Told me that if the Canes can win more they can easily become relevant again. Says they go to Bama, but really don't want to be in Alabama.

I can't imagine any kid born and raised South Florida would ever want to actually live in any SEC town, or north of Daytona for that matter. It's culture shock to the max.

And to say Bama doesn't pay, c'mon bro. Their ******* coaches are bagmen.

I don't understand why Miami doesn't take one of these quarterbacks on the market. They can get him caught up on the playbook because of the new NCAA rules. Also they can redshirt Kayaa.

Sorry a qb with a 53% career completion and more INT's than TD's is not worth losing the opportunity to see of your young QBs have the goods or not. Its not like he's a bona fide stud that is a guaranteed upgrade at the QB position. If he was I'll be all for it.
Also Williams is scheduled to be back early in the season making getting Wittek even less of a need.
Lastly I think players would not take the acquisition very well and could lose players. I know they rallied around Williams and would be taken aback by a perceived disloyalty to players who have busted their asses for the program for years only to be replaced by an outsider who really hasn't proven anything.
I know Golden is considering all this and is why he won't do it.

you do realize those stats are from his rsfrosh year and he got his first start the last game of the year vs notre dame who had one of the top defenses in the country that year. golden said himself in a recent interview he would not rule out bringing in a qb transfer. as for the players im pretty sure they just want to ****** win and doesnt care who is helping them do it.

I know all you HOF coaches are busy killing our staff, so I doubt you care, but the word on this kid now is that he won't be eligible to play in 2014, which is why Texas is passing now, and which is quite possibly why Golden et al never went down the rabbit hole with him in the first place.

But please, carry on.

Petros and Money were just talking about this kid on the radio. Petros is tapped in to that program. Kid is apparently a total head case and there is a pretty good shot he finds himself out of football entirely this season. Which, considering he started a bow game for them a couple years ago and has multiple years of eligibility left, is kind of insane.
