Hey I know we have our guy so it is what it is. However, the next level program was forward thinking enough to bring in a Matt Patricia. This move made me question “are we really a serious program”?
Our guy could very well come in and knock it out the park. However, there is a lot of unknown compared to the coaching hire by the national champions.
I also want to add that the orange and green is very much still a powerful place to be despite what people think. The Cam Ward case is definitely evidence of that. I’m saying this to say I really believe the orange and green could hypnotize a Matt Patricia and other football guys of his stature.

No Hennessy in this world could ever make me say "We need to bring in Matt Patricia or someone like him".

Why the **** would we want to bring in a fraud who steals money whilst pretending to do something?

The dude is a ******* clown, nobody wants to work for or with him, everywhere he went he burned bridges and alienated people and completely sucked from top to bottom. Honestly one of the worst coordinators I have ever witnessed in my life.

The guys we have are good. Let it rest.

I'm feeling a little wiggle room in your position here.

Did you make the same post when UCLA hired Bieniemy? Or when Georgia State hired Hue Jackson? Or the countless other guys that failed upwards in the NFL and continuously got fired before also failing in college?

I’m pretty sure Buckeye fans are very much not pumped about this hire. The majority are having to talk themselves into the hire and go with the “gotta trust Day on this.”

Brother..... as a lifelong Patriots fan, you should be thanking every possible god you can think of that we did not bring in Matt ******* Patricia to do anything on this team. I genuinely don't know how this man keeps getting jobs.

I'll never forgive him (similar to Lance Guidry this year) for wasting Tom Brady's 505 Yard performance in the Philly Superbowl. Legit one or two stops would have won Tom another one and had us go back to back for the second time.

This is called an experiment. One you can do when you just won a national title. Hoping to strike lightening in a bottle like they did with Chip Kelly.

3rd and 5, expect a contained three-man-rush leaving the MOF wide open.

Against Ryan Fitzpatrick fwiw.

Why do people get infatuated with coaches simply because they've spent time in the NFL?
It's Circular reasoning fallacy.

The logic is, because a guy Coached at the NFL level, then they should be equally if not more successful on the College level because the NFL is harder.

What people who believe that fail to factor in is that the NFL & College are two different games from a collective standpoint. There are collegiate players who individually are going to play & do well in the NFL, but entire teams don't get drafted to the league.

In College, it's mostly a talent acquisition game, in the NFL every team has great talent, so it comes down to late season health & play calling + decision making in critical moments. The margin of error is a lot slimmer in the NFL in order to win on a consistent basis. In college, if you have the more talented roster 9/10 times you're going to win.

Position Coaches & Coordinators matter a lot more in College than they do in the league.

But overall, an NFL coaches success in College has more to do with their adaptability philosophically & understanding the mentality of College young adults, than it has anything to do necessarily with some special knowledge that people assume they might have due to their time in the NFL.

It's a case by case/coach by coach barometer. There are some Coaches on the college level who are better suited for the NFL & there are some NFL coaches who are better suited for college. It strictly depends on their personality.

It's a nuanced topic & nuance is nearly impossible to digest when it comes to CIS.

Agree, well said.

If OSU didn't win a natty, and then replaced Jim Knowles with Matt Patricia, youd see Buckeye fans protesting outside of Ryan Day's house. The only reason we aren't seeing that is because they just won a natty.

I don't think any NFL teams had any real interest in Matt Patricia..... think about that for a moment.. technically, he's a former NFL HC.

He's one of many Belichick assts who cashed in on being a belichick asst.
