Martinez… not hurt

I thought Fletcher started last night? I have to give Fletcher credit because he has definitely improved as a runner since last season. I think Martinez played more when the Canes fell behind and got into a pass-first mode. Martinez was solid in pass pro and catching the ball out of the backfield
Martinez came out first snap/drive

First off, Damien doesn’t have stop and start explosion. He’s a plodder. However, he’s a sledgehammer. He’s been great in passpro and rock solid in the pass game. I think that he clearly has not found his rhythm yet. Hopefully he does, because he’s been making Fletch look like Napoleon Kaufman.

I’m not trashing Damien, but the game I have him circled for is FSU. I want us to run for 350+.

I'm ok with what Martinez is giving us, but Fletcher looked better to me this week than he ever has. He was running with purpose and determination, exploding through whatever creases he found. His style might be a better fit for this offense.

I don’t think some of yall have caught on to what the plan for RB rotation is. I’m pretty fine with it.
I am with you on this.

We got a parking lot of backs.

I think there will be Damien Martinez games where he re-establishes himself. He's going to be needed, IMO, late in the year.

He had some nice catches that helped us win Saturday night. The one that took us to the one yard line was huge too in addition to the one on the last drive.

Came here to say this. He looks to have a good feel in the passing game. I wish we'd throw him the ball more. But that play by Ward was SO **** good. He knew he was going to Martinez from the second he started to break the pocket, but he pushed the LOS straight vertical for literally as long as he could and at the very last second, right as he got to the LOS, he flipped and zipped the ball out to Martinez. I can't even explain how good of a play this is. By pressing the LOS in the middle of the field, you're getting everyone moving 1) forward and 2) to the middle....and then you zip the ball to the boundary to your back, and it was a perfect throw that allowed him to accelerate quickly up the sideline.

By the way, that was THIRD AND TWENTY from the 25. With under 50 seconds left. If the ball is inaccurate, or dropped, or he even throws it a second before he did and gives the defense more time to react, it's 4th down and some distance, and the game is down to 1 play. Masterful quarterback play from Cam. Go watch it again, it's SO good.
