Marlon Martinez Note

Who cares, we only want those that want to be here, we not begging nobody to come here, if you have to beg any player to come here, he's not UM material anyway! The lost to F.i.u. is not as bad as people making it out to be, if it was F.i.u. without butch davis, that would've than i can see the uproar, but its F.i.u. with butch, and i said it back when he got hired their, he's going to be a problem, and he's as competitive as they come, all the schools that bypassed him, his intent is on making all of them pay, he'll do the best job he can at F.i.u. and will continue to get them to believe they can play with anybody, not hiring him was a mistake, not only can he build a program, more importantly, he doesnt let outside noise influence him, he just goes about his business and gets the job done, he's like a guythst you can drop in any woods around the globe with just a knife and canteen, and he's going to survive, and you can take one of them those away and he'll still make something happen!

Don't understand the lack of tackle recruiting. Scaife doesn't belong at RT long term and I don't understand the confidence that Zion is magically gonna just "get it". He's a wild card at best no matter how much experience he has and how much time he spends in weight room with Feely.

Does anyone think Rivers or El gammal have the footwork to be tackles?

LSU commit Marlon Martinez had previously been viewed as a potential flip candidate for Miami, but that no longer seems to be the case. Communication between Miami and Martinez has slowed to a stop recently and it looks like Miami is moving on to other targets along the offensive line.
They are confident with the kid from Jacksonville

Concerns?

Plays high, waist bender, rather than knee bender. Hand usage needs lots of work. He's far less refined than Martinez is.

Martinez is smooth, well coached, ready to play quickly. He doesn't have the pop of Baynes, doesn't play with a mean streak like Baynes does, and is on the ground more than I'd like.

Martinez is more of a sure thing, but has already developed so much I'm not sure how high the ceiling truly is. Baynes is a kid who can be a people mover if he works hard and takes to coaching.

It also is attractive to me how mean Baynes is and he really loves to be a bully out there. After he pancakes someone, he flips his leg over the top of them and slides up over their face. Every time. It's comical and just shows he enjoys not just beating his opponent down, but also in trying to take their will.

For me, we need more of that mean mentality on the OL. Martinez isn't that type on the field, but I'd be happy to take him as well.

Elgammal idk about tackle he seems in practice clips too stiff. But I think with his size he could be a nasty guard. One that would actually dominate

We have Washington and Rivers committed.

None of the STA OL's ever considered really coming here...

We had a better chance with Ike Walker Jr up (until the UF game) than we did with either of the STA OL's lol.

Yea well if we didnt ignore STA OL for 3 straight years while they have put out P5 level lineman. Maybe Martinez and Dumervil would have considered us more. A Cuban and a Zoe have no business playing anywhere but Miami.

Lance, always appreciate your insight. If you have spare time over the offseason, or anytime..would you be able to incorporate a new segment or thread something on the lines of illustrative videos highlighting the more technical things when it comes to positions such as OL and DL? I played football through my Jr. year of HS, but always skilled positions, never in the the trenches. Of course easy to recognize a DE’s speed or bend, if an OT is slow and gets beat easily around the edge etc. but would like to see comparisons of the more technical side of the bigs. For example, a clip of an OL with “good hand placement” and commentary on what you’re seeing and liking; then a video with bad hand placement, and why what you’re seeing is concerning...really illustrating the terms you hear, “plays high” “good bender” “pad level”

You must really appreciate his insight.
And, there’s an edit icon on the left side bottom of your post in case you wanted to delete the inadvertent repeating of your comment. 😉
