Marlin's Park

Layout is not football friendly at all....

This. I have no idea why people believe why a baseball stadium can be suddenly football friendly. You'd have to spend as much to convert it as it would to build a new stadium.

I guess some people have never been to a baseball game, but here's some info for you. Its built in a different shape then a football stadium. Many of the seats face the wrong way. Many of the seats are in the next county, ESPECIALLY at midfield, from one 30 to the other, where your best seats are supposed to be. And the structure of the stadium is to get as many seats in and directed at one small corner of the field, not towards the center as in a football stadium.

Its fun as a novelty, or a 4th tier bowl game, but a stadium built for baseball being used for football would be an absurdity.

Not gonna happen, but here's how a soccer field looks in Marlins Park. Dont know the dimensions of the field though.

A soccer field is about 7 yards wider than a football field, so football fans will be even farther away. A football field, with the endzones, is about 45 feet longer than a soccer field, so I am not even sure it will fit in that configuration. And LOL @ Marlins field with about 30 seats in the left sideline, and they are about 1/3 of a mile away.

sticky needs to be posted. this is annoying the **** out of me

The park was purposefully designed so that football would never be possible there. Keep dreaming, though.

Well it is a baseball stadium. I don't think the mandate was, 'I don't care how this plays for baseball, as longs as football is never played'. Lot of discussion here is people talking out of their ***.

Soccer has been played and a bowl game has been spoken about. Will the canes ever play there? Doubtful because of the 20 year lease and the canes/marlins season coinciding.

The best bet for the Canes is MLS expansion. Check the Semper Fi game right now at the home of the LA Galaxy. It's a very cool venue.

We have to be patient. Our best bet is when the Dolphins start ****ing about their 25 year old stadium and momentum builds for a state of the art downtown football stadium that the Dolphins and Fish could share.

Is it just me or are there a lot a posts that seem to be coming from the offspring of DBC and DBC's sister in this thread?

I actually think this may be an alternative that makes sense. Hopefully the Marlins move out of town and allow us to renovate this park. If you put one of the end zones where home plate is extending down the first base line and the other in left field extending out by that travesty of a home run structure, get rid of the home run structure, and move the seats around with some retrofitting of the stadium, I think it could work out great.

You do realize that when the Marlins got funding for the stadium from the city of Miami, they signed a contract that iron clad, they must remain in Miami for 25 years, right?

I haven't reviewed that contract nor have access to it, but we'll see what happens if that scumbag decides to sell the Marlins.

Sounds like a typical DBC answer.

What happens if attendance really tanks at some point and never recovers?

lol really another stadium thread? were at SLS for the next 20 years deal with it. if we start winning, everything will be fine and the stadium wont matter much anymore

Most professional soccer fields are 120 yards long by 70 yards wide

That rendering looks exactly like Boone Pickens Stadium. Where is that from?
