Marlins Park can be reconfigured for football

The Marlins aren't going anywhere. The 'Canes will never play football on that sacred ground ever again, unless it's a charity flag football game on the outfield grass.

Unless the University raises the funds for their own stadium, we will be stuck at Sun Life for a very long time.

Miami has a Latino government with a South American / third world mentality. Anything that will not happen, can happen and probably will.

Contracts and agreements are essentially meaningless.
Si, como no?

I'm retired (thank you dear leader), for a parsimonious fee I would be willing to come down four times a month to show the city and the Marlins organization how to make money at the Flying Saucer Dome. Same goes for JRS (or whatever it's called now). Their marketing people are incapable of thinking out of the box.

I wager that the posters here can come up with better marketing ideas than the "pros." I would like to see a thread on that. What say you?

They'd sell that place out for any of the following special events:

1. Materva Night;
2. Rooster Fights Thursday;
3. Dominoes tournaments;
4. Who Can Say Oye' Meeda The Most Times in 1 Minute Night.

I said in another thread the only way canes get own stadium is if the ****** marlins are moved out of state

For UM to get their own football stadium, or one closer to campus:

The Administration would have to deem that a priority over many other worthy expenditures. Possible but not probable or likely.

Steven Ross, or whomever owns JRS in the future, would have to agree to let us out of the lease. Possible but not probable or likely.

Marlins Park would need a detailed study on if it could be used for football, and how much it would cost to retrofit. Possible but not probable or likely (that it works for major college football).

We would have to negotiate a more attractive lease than JRS with Marlins Park. Possible but not probable or likely.

Someone other than UM would have to foot an expensive reconfiguration effort. Possible but not probable or likely.

Put all that together, and it aint happening. Ever.

Now that's thinking out of the box! To take the chuckling comment and put it into business terms the facility could have a variety of eateries and shops (think Jax Landings), miscellaneous events like the world's largest domino's tournament, RC airplane flying and a variety of competitions (concerts of all kinds, Miami's got talent, etc. --if they aren't already doing that, a traditional Spanish El Paseo afternoon with free admission when anyone can walk around then have an ice cream or a beer, move season ticket holders together in the money seats, sell the others at a dollar ticket seat game with cheap concessions on those nights to bring in customers and additional revenues. That's just scratching the surface of possibilities. Don't know how many of these things are already happening at Flying Saucer ballpark, but in a city with the population of Miami if you create the action they will come (but, if you want large numbers, can't always have large prices).
