Mark Walton has questionable vision

Questionable? Dude has awful vision. Runs right into defenders half the time.

He doesn't know how to set up blocks and find the cut back lane. He's an athlete playing RB...Yearby is a true RB...

But honestly, I don't wanna hear all that right now, b/c most of the posters on here were clowning Yearby.

I told y'all that Yearby had quietly one of the best seasons here as a RB. Stupid coaching staff, horrible line play, splitting carries, and he still rocked 1g on the ground. No, he's not Cook, but Yearby was that guy b4 he broke his leg.

He should be the starter, w/o question. He's tough to bring down, sets up blocks, and will make u come out your drawers in the open field one on one. Joe Yearby is my guy. Walton needs to learn the essence of being a RB; how to pick holes, how to set up blocks, feel cut back lanes...Joe got that already.

I agree with pretty much all this. What I want to know is what is Walton doing in practice that he trots out there first? I mean, I like a lot of what he can do, but I don't see how he gets more carries than Yearby.

That's what I want to know as well.

Yearby is an every down NFL back. Mark Walton will make it on talent but only situational. He doesn't find holes and is not very shifty

I will say, nobody on here can knock his big play ability though kid houses one a game. That fsu one should have counted and would have been enough to win the game most likely

Didn't mean to downvote.

Honestly, in the NFL if you don't have vision, then you have nothing. Trent Richardson was uber talented, but NFL analysts said he had the worse vision for a RB that they've ever seen. As a result, dude bounces around the NFL for a couple of years and earns major bust status.

Yearby may not be as physically gifted as Walton, but he has the vision and technique to at least be on a RB tandem in the NFL.

Yearby gonna wind up on the Patriots or Packers where he'll be wide open for the next years 8

Picks up blitzes and is a really good runner

Walton is a north-south runner. Once he made up his mind he couldn't have bounced that run outside if he wanted to.

I agree Yearby should get more carries. And both should catch a few more out of the backfield. Yearby in particular has made a few nice plays on wheel routes. I think he might have scored on the swing pass Walton caught in the first half.

Here's another missed run by Walton. FSU basically has 10 men on the field (11th running on) and he runs right into the teeth of the d-line. He had an opportunity to bounce it outside as the d-line collapsed the middle and go one-on-one on Ermon Lane for a big gain.

Actually this appears to be the same exact play as above. Perhaps his running path is by design, so is this a scheme issue or Mark Walton issue??

I'm not defending Mark Walton, but I have to think that its a play design issue, and that the coaches told him that they want him running to that gap.

I agree. On the video, from this angle, it looks like an easy bounce to the outside nets a long run. Also, that gap inside would have been a nice running lane if the RT blocks out the DE. He seems like he's pass blocking, and the DE simply cuts inside to help close the hole. Perhaps a flaw in the RPO, when the OL isn't sure they are pass blocking or run blocking.

I remember watching that play and thinking "where the **** is he going?!"

Our RB's did that a couple times in that game, even Yearby.

He's 4 yards deep and in the play-side A-gap when he gets the hand-off. Plenty of room to cut left and follow his puller. He's the one who blasted full speed into the back door.

This is one of those runs where you actually want your RB to slow it down a bit and read his lead block. I don't know why he had his finger on R2.

..This play had "Go there" written all over it.

There was no RPO on that play...despite what Kaaya and the play callers had in mid.

Well I doubt someone told him to NOT to follow his guard and dive into the gap that he just vacated. Somebody is on the wrong page here.

So, despite everything we read, the playcall might have been a good call and the OL might have blocked it well. It was the RB who failed to execute. Imagine that. Is the play call the same as the play Walton bounced to the outside and scored on (forget the holding call)?

That's exactly where I was going with this. TY TemplarCane

It's a very odd play when you watch it isn't it?

I mean when you pull a guard, and it's not a counter....then....ya...but if you watch Walton's feet...he was never following that guard.
