Mark Stoops is the New Head Coach for...

Good for Coach Stoops. Always been a big fan of his since his days here as the DB coach. Hope he does well.

As for FSU, I wouldn't get all excited. They will replace him with someone just as good. They can pay top dollar for the best of the best.

There is nobody available

chizik is available. great coordinator, terrible head coach.

The problem with FSU is not the defensive coordinator, it's the culture. FSU has limped along for YEARS. There is a sense of entitlement that crept into the FSU operations during the last decade of the Bowden era and has only grown in the last 5 years. Many kids are still going to FSU for the souped up notion of what it was, as opposed to what it actually is. The mentality of the fanbase is the same as the player's and staff and THAT'S what is so refreshing about Al Golden.

He has given us a kick in the teeth and a fresh perspective of who we actually are. There is a hunger in our program, much like the hunger that built the dynasty of the '80's, and it has seeped into our players. Our guys weren't sold on what the program IS as much as they were sold on what it should be, and how they could be apart of that. That's why a Tracy Howard is here. That's why a Deon Bush is here. That's why a Duke Johnson is here and that's why it's only a matter of when we are "back" and not IF.

Miami is gaining the hunger that Golden instilled at Temple and FSU is cruising along at the pace that they've been cruising at for years.

FSU thinks of themselves as a model football program that should be emulated, while Miami knows who it is right now and one of the most important aspects of life, in any field, is self evaluation.

i like what you have to say and i agree so i'll give you some rep, but i'm talking micro while you're talking macro. i'm just saying that they need a top-notch dc or they're going to turn into baylor/wvu. i think chizik would be a good hire for them and they could probably get him on the cheap right now.

Yes. There was another thread about how we always have our greatest success after our biggest setbacks (and when we have the right coach in place to rebuild). Anyone else remember the articles about the 2000 team pushing Romberg's truck through the parking lot as an extra workout during the summer? That is the kind of hunger Duke and the young guys have and now we have Utough and a staff that formalizes and rewards that hunger. That is why the U is different from any other school.

If true, gotta think Jimbo has his bags pack with Auburn luggage tags on them.

I was thinking the same

Not sure we want Jimbo leaving FSU. Thinking of the alternatives scare me more than Dumbo Fish

Olive Garden don't scare me bruh. No defense.

You can almost accidentally field a good defense when you're at FSU. Olive Garden would be bad news.

This.

Would not want to take my chances against Petrino.

I would imagine he would lose part of his huge buyout, prob not worth it for him.

Wondered if anyone thought that Chizik would make a good hire for them. Good luck to Coach Stoops.

He left because that defense is about to get hit bad with departures, he didn't want to be exposed IMO.

Chizik would be a good DC and I could see him go to FSU.

unless he plans on retiring with that money, i'm sure he'd jump at the opportunity to land at a big school. he's going to be in full redemption mode and is probably itching for a job offer. fsu is also right below his former recruiting base and could viably steal away some more quality players from alabama.
