Mark D'Onofrio - WQAM 4/12

Now that Shayon Green is 2 years removed from his major knee injures, hopefully some of his agility will return. No, I don't expect him to be some super player, but I wouldn't be surprised if he looks much better than he did last year.

It sure can't hurt. Watching Gore do what he does, I won't count anyone out that has had knees repaired anymore.

Great?

How is this any different than any offseason interview given by any coach ever? You could replace Mark Donofrio, Anthony Chickillo, and Olsen Pierre with Randy Shannon, Thomas Carroll, and John Sqaure and have the same article from 10 years ago. I mean can you point to any where the coach comes out and says, "Yeah we had problems stopping the run last year, and I expect to have those same problems this coming year. A lot of these guys aren't working hard, and most of them haven't really matured either. So we'll have to see how it goes."

Don't tell me. Show me.

"From the inside, all the DT’s have shown the ability to get some push inside, beating guards 1-on-1, or slipping gaps."

Been a long time since we have seen a DLine capable of generating pressure from the inside. I'll believe this when I see it, particularly against good comp.

Very linear in his approach.

We're going to have to be very, very talented.

Then don't read it. Turn off your radio and refrain from reading this site and others that will have coaches saying how much improved things will be.

The school is promoting it's football program to hopefully generate excitement and sell tickets. To do that they need their coaches to go on radio shows and speak to the media so their message reaches the masses. This is nothing new.

D'Onofrio's post Scrimmage remarks included this, which I know many were interested in regarding Artie Burns :

I'm looking forward to Artie [Burns] to coming in and playing corner and see how he competes with some of those guys.

Si. Si. Me gusta. Top 4 or 5 corner by the end of the year. Could potentially play a hybrid Nickel role and just be used as an athlete (ala Deon Bush, I foresee).
