Mario's Recruiting

Good stuff OP. Think if we win large majority of remaining games we will still be near Top 10 class.

He’s a closer. This class will come together eventually.
I hope you’re right, but I have heard that with other coaches for years. I remember being on Canespace in 2018 and questioning how few recruits we had going into the summer. I was assured, do not worry…the class will come together. It never did, and in fact fell apart.

In this case we don't have few recruits, we have 17. Plenty of evidence suggests MC closes well under pressure. No reason to think he's somehow incapable all of a sudden.

Current staff starting with Mario understand that you have to subtract in order to add. They understand that Miami can be a fair weather fanbase. Therefore, you will see Mario and Alonzo make it through the year with what they got. They will also play the younger guys a lot more.

the old culture BS. lol once he starts winning, kids will come. no one gives a **** bout anything else
That’s why we always struggle with in state (with exceptions). You all truly downplay the effect of parents, coaches and handlers with their hands out and the recruiting in 7v7 which is well before cfb recruiting starts - those things sets those kids up on a course that likely leads elsewhere.

No other state has that kind of disloyalty in the grassroots aspects that I just mentioned. None!

Lmao at thinking winning alone changes recruiting culture in Sfla.

Mario didn’t all of the sudden forget how to recruit.

But there’s no doubt in mind he’s now fully realizing the difficulties of recruiting at Miami. Yes Oregon had unique hurdles to overcome. But the toxicity around this program makes this recruiting job just as hard, if not harder. At least in the short term aka turning things around.

Salvaging this season (8-4…maybe even 7-5 with a bowl win?) would put Mario in a good spot to finish strong. Not top 5. But top 10 for sure.

And that FSU will be huge if we win the next two.
7-5 or 8-4 ha.

We will see...no one out recruits a 4 win season.

Gonna need to be aroud top 7 to get the talent we need to win.

I think this is gonna be a portal heavy class. We also will lose a lot to the portal. Kids like Mario but he’s not exactly a players coach

If he keeps it that way by end of the season then that would be a miracle. It's going to be interesting seeing how this class pans out.

Top 10 finish at this point seems like a long shot but that's really the only Mario will be able to silence some of the doubt.

Well since you asked and we’re making lists:

- Mocked the second wave.
- Got insulted for mocking the second wave.
- The second wave still never really came.

- Then had a great feeling about a WR according to the board only to lose 3 games in a row running a subpar offense and losing out of the early pledge from said WR…

- Watched another WR commit to FSU

- Watched UF mop up DB recruits

No one is saying Mario can’t recruit, but there is a legit concern that the early season blunders, many mirroring long term concerns, may have hurt with some recruits impacting the potential standard bump….

Huge get with Cormani. Massive. Game changing.

Their DB class is still very solid and the second wave was discussed in July…and posters were mocked for it. It’s October.

Huge recruiting win.

I would take our 3 corners over theirs... other than Dijion who was a reach for us, was there any other DBs that they got that we wanted or were heavily in the recruitment for? Let's wait for the rest of DB class to finish. They also have one of the best DB coaches in the nation so it's expected.

July was still part of the 1st wave which ended on 8/5...
