Mario with Joe Z on WQAM

Thanks for posting. Sounds like he learned a lot while at Bama mentioned their recruiting and famous 4th quarter program(training) for those who may not know. The 4th quarter program is a staple of Saban and his off season program and it’s all about building monsters that make other teams quit come the end of the game.

Mario learned that fourth quarter training as a player at UM decades ago, which is where Saban arguably got it—as that wasn't his m.o. with average teams at Michigan State.

The "four fingers" tradition is something that came from the Bear Bryant era in Alabama—that Miami owned and used to dominate in the day.

Safe bet Saban saw it Miami back in the day, but knows it was a Bama tradition that he needed to pour some gas on and light up—as it's a key component to championship caliber football.

I miss Manny.
The only thing I will miss about Diaz, and I hope Cristobal continues it, was "The Breakdown Segment" on the Manny Diaz show. I thought it was fascinating to get the play-by-play, position-by-position autopsy and perspective from the head coach.

Don't get it twisted, I disliked the show and all the lip-service and fellatio Joe Zagacki and Don Bailey Jr. performed on Diaz. The breakdown segment was cool to watch though.
