Mario on Joe Rose show this AM

I refuse to believe that any of the 3 players (Brown, Alston & Rodriguez) will see action until they step on the field, given Mario’s history with injury reports.

With that said, we could really use Brown and Alston this weekend for obvious reasons. I don’t see Rodriguez, even if fully healthy, getting much burn over McCoy and Bell. His presence would disrupt the left side and that rotation has been working (for the most part) this season. I’d only play him in case of emergency.

Agreed. I think Rodriguez, even if healthy, provides depth and he will challenge for starting C next year. Alston will play if he is good to go especially if Barron is still working through his ish, we need pass rushers against Cuse.

Brown I think needs to get some burn, let him get some game action. I wonder if they are thinking of a RS for brown though? IDK that he says here 5 years but he only played in UF so he has 3 games to play and still keep his RS.

It could be they'd like to hold him out as long as possible. If he can go, and he's needed on Saturday, I bet they put him in.

The longer he can heal, the better he'll be. Seems like Mario may be playing the long game with Damari.

He never says much about Alston

Brown warmed up last game. I think RRod did as well. So you have to think Mario is being honest there. Did anyone notice if Alston warmed up? He came out for the Senior Day event and seemed totally fine. Honestly, when I think of the Wake game plan, both Brown and Alston were not needed. Maybe that was part of the reason they gave them one more week. And as far as depth, McCoy already gets subbed out. So who is RRod going to come in for now? To me he only plays if someone gets injured.

Meesh is clearly better at nickel where his film study helps him around the LOS and takes him away from chasing situations where he is both slow and takes awful angles.

Putting him back at safety to get Damari on the field doesn’t help much imo.

Did anyone keep track of the seniors who walked? Usually a good indicator of guys planning on leaving. I know we have some guys that technically could come back but it would be doubtful. Guys like Messidor and Rivers for example

Syracuse will pass meaning more nickel sets than WF.
I am interested to see what Guidry does with the front 7 against Cuse. You know they are throwing it a **** ton, basically I want to know where he is going to put the speed in at what level. Do you go more of a 3-3-5 with Barrow as your DT, Bain and Messidor as DE then add in Pruit with Wes as your 3rd LB? I almost prefer this instead of the 4-2-5, my fear in the 4-2-5 is we will have Barron or Alston or someone dropping into coverage and it makes Kiko a liability. If we go 3 down lineman we can send Kiko as the 4th rusher most of the time (Kiko aint coming off the field much). Get him out of pass coverage and play downhill where he is at his best, let Wes and Pruit go chase the WRs around.

Everyone walked that was expected except for Martinez. Arroyo walked so he must be gone.

Valid point. And there doesn't appear to be a viable solution to limit ,,,#7's reps. He's due for another bad angle/overrun that hurts us in the run game.
Guess Hill was odd man out v Wake? Guessing more CB's get reps out of necessity against 'Cuse.
Throwing into coverage doesn't bother McCord. Wonder how often he'll challenge OJ.

Alston isn’t asked about as much as Brown. Obviously, Brown could have a bigger impact than Alston.

Why not get Brown some reps in the second half against WF to bust the rust?

Its stuff like that that blows my mind.
