Mario defenders - Let’s hears those excuses

Couldn’t agree more. After 18 years of rotten culture, mediocrity, and bad recruiting evals, this was never going to be a quick turnaround. Go back to Jimmy and Butch, and you’ll see moments that looked exactly like this one.

How Mario works out is TBD. But we’re in week five of year 1. Imho, we’re at least 2 years away from being a consistent 9-win team, and 3-4 years from being nationally relevant. Even the greatest coaches had transition years (Bama 7-5 in 07’; Dabo 15-12 his first two seasons; Luke Fickell 4-8 his first season). It’s not gonna be easy. Also dumb to say we’re doomed. Theres a pretty clear record of good coaches having growing pains and making a jump after.

I mentioned something similar. Having a bad first year in and of itself is not a killer, a number of NC winning coaches experienced the same. However, there are some major concerns I see with Mario

1) He is neither an expert/specialist on O nor D. He will always be dependent on coordinators
2) His offensive philosophy which we all now by now is very bad......It has been confirmed by former team fans and former players who left his program as a result of his archaic philosophy. The media also is calling it out. At Miami, it will get LOUD from fans and local media. He will NOT avoid it at Miami. He doesn't have a killer mentality.
3) He is a very shaky and poor gameday coach. A slow decision maker, hesitant and shook. For a guy who exhibits 1, and 2.....he MUST be a sharp gameday manager. He is not, I watched him at Oregon and he drove those fans crazy too.

In order to be successful Mario has to fix at LEAST 2 of those 3 things. Personally, I would never hire a coach who didn't bring an expert skill on one of the two sides of the ball.

The Was all known before he was hired. Nothing new under the sun. But ya know he’s Miami bro

I don’t get the point of this…like nothing you say is going to get him fired lol. He’s here for at least 3-4 years. 80 mil contract, use your heads.

But let your frustration out I guess.
Right here man. For better or for worse, Mario is going nowhere. Yesterday being completely unacceptable with no excuses and understanding that this is a 3 year rebuild of this program does not have to be a debate. Both can be true.

People are feeling a lot of emotions. There is anger about yesterday and then there is fear that Mario won’t adjust and we could see more of this. I think Mario is still learning about what this team has or doesn’t have.

Let’s see what he does.

Yesterday was a sobering dose of reality for me Daaaaamn, Miami should never lose to MTSU and got totally outplayed WOW. I still believe Mario gonna fix this. North Carolina should tell us something.
Cot **** what has happened to Van Dimes just hard to believe what your seeing.

Sad and shocking...we were destroyed in every aspect of the game.. including ST... it wasn't even close.
.... it was a miracle that at least 2 of the punts were not blocked clean... yes we broke one through. But the ST line is a sieve.

Yeah...I mean look I like Mario. I think he has great qualities. about 15 years ago I remember having discussions with folks regarding Mario's need to go out and be a coordinator and learn offense from someone, some guru/specialist. I think the FIU job was a bad idea for Mario, it was a false sense of "I made it" when he really didn't build any significant skill sets that could set him apart in a dynamic way. He's learned "Culture" and perhaps "Organization".......but in 2022.....bruh, X's and O's kill it. There is not time in this day and age for a 5 year rebuild...you get demolished and consumed by bigger programs on the recruiting trail.

The whole "Mario is Miami's son/bro..." stuff is super annoying......but yes, he will be protected by the Miami bro mafia for a while. There has been too much focus on the "Son of Miami" BS. Listen, Shannon was a REAL HARDSHIP SON OF MIAMI....much more so than Mario. That dude grew up in the hood of Miami, lived it, etc. Mario's story is kind of fake. I went to Columbus in the early 90's and attended Miami Catholic schooling.....This idea that he was raised in some tough hard working culture is COMPLETE BULL****!!! It's literally LMFAO material. There is no more yuppie, "Bro", connected, political, entitled culture than the CCHS familia. I know...I lived it and to an extend am a part of it and very proud of our life bonds.....but it's all "Miami bro" type stuff.

I am pulling for this to all work and end up a grand success.....some serious changes will be needed soon. I can promise you the Columbus Mafia will protect him to the death and buy him as much time to get it done as possible....That's how CCHS and the "Community" rolls. Shannon never ever would have had this type of support and behind the scenes backing.

I agree 100%. That's what I saw and have seen these first few weeks. The post game presser was eye opening as well. Dude was shook shook shook.

For a private school to give the man 8 million n a blank check on high profile coaches. We should be rioting n the streets. I'm so tired of f@cking losing n looking like ****.

Cristobal has never and will never be a good offensive or even football mind. He’s a top tier recruiter who will need to surround himself with people who don’t run his schemes or have elite talent. Big gulp on that one because we have seen how this game plays out with stubborn corches

Nobody going to defend any part of Saturday. But Mario won’t be going anywhere in at least 7 years. Just hope he fixes things sooner rather then later.
