If Mario had never played at Miami or coached here I would want him because
A. He spent a lot of time under Saban and knows how a proper program is built and then run on all the little details this program has ignored for 20 years
B. He's proved he can go to a university with zero previous ties and boost its recruiting profile over its traditional recruiting history AND also sign highly rated kids from all over the country with a proven track record of getting kids highly drafted he can sell here
C. He's won a P5 conference championship and coached in a NY6 Bowl
the dude is about to have recruited and coached the #1 OVERALL pick in the 22 NFL Draft on top of it
talent acquisition is the most important part of CFB, nothing else comes close and every coach in the playoffs will tell you that
i then ask you this. who else would be a better prospect as a HC that Miami should go for?
1. Many coaches coached under Saban and then went onto to do nothing great. Do you need a list of them?
2. So did Chip Kelly, should we go get him? He did it when the PAC-12 had better coaching too. Chip did a lot more there too and against tougher competition.
3. When Mario starts dominating the conference, that is something. At this point, big deal. Show me he can do it again this year. If he finishes with one loss in conference and with another conference championship, that is something.
4. I am only concerned with AD. Not finding an HC. I was only discussing Mario and his track record.
