Hes a 3 star, We have enough of those. You acting like hes Orlando Pace. We have enough of the marginal prospects, In 2 years you would be calling for him to transfer.

Well he only has one final year eligibility so....

But he's not any good. Let's not whine about this one. He was a bad player. Adding more bad players to a bad line to begin with isn't the answer.

But I get it, people are familiar with his name so they just avoid the fact that he's bad.

Was just stating the obvious that we can’t request he transfers out two years from now when he’s gone in one. Haven’t seen him play nor am I advocating for him. He can be terrible for all I know.

Now that being said, what exactly are posters expecting to pick up in the portal? There will probably be at most 3 or 4 quality OT starters that leave their team and hit the portal. Especially grad transfers that can play right away. I don’t see us beating out teams ahead of us to land those guys.

I think our best chances will be landing a guy like this who has had meaningful P5 snaps and is getting passed over by younger guys because his team can actually recruit OL. Said player may not be great but he may be much better than what we currently have on our roster. Again not talking about this guy in particular but I much rather take a risk on a guy who will be gone in a year than let Barry go reach for a Gage Gaynor, Alex Atcavage or Phillip Wilder and get stuck with them on roster for 4 or 5 years like some we have now.

I posted this in another thread but figured i'd paste it here as well.

Was also the worst rated pass blocker on the team in those 5 games he started and he was beat out by 2 freshmen this year and put back into a backup type role. He plays but doesn't start, only the games Wright missed due to injury.

I get it that we suck on the oline but it doesn't make sense to jump up and down for everyone else's backup transfers at 1 year rentals.

If a legit lineman is in there, preferably with 2 years left, i jump at him. These guys who are backups for others teams i'll pass on. We don't need more backups. We need starter material.
We are in no position to be picky. We need bodies badly.

The Tennessee O-line has been terrible in Tate's time there. He's flat out bad. If you're going to take a portal O-line, look to the younger kids who are transferring. More upside and more variables to why they're in the portal. But not guys like Tate. They're experienced and they're just bad.

If you take a guy like Tate, then just don't take a transfer. It's a waste of time.

Why would any Oline portal guys want to come to Miami? Yeah they would get to play but they would be killing their career cuz we don’t know how to develop players. F*ck #TNM and everyone that is on football staff.
To be fair, Linder got paid big time with his contract and players like Flowers and Feliciano have carved out a decent career. All of which developed under Kehoe. ****...that's depressing.

Most successful Olinemen were 3 stars actually. We need to stack up our oline badly.
