Marcus Forston Released.

Amazing how quickly this board is moving to the same level as the Canestime free board. Forston is guaranteed $400K this year, and making the Patriots isn't easy. Chances are he ends up on a practice and has a chance to keep developing. Who cares that he left.

Hopefully he can figure it out and stick somewhere.

He may have been a disappointment here, but that doesn't mean I'm not rooting for him to make it in the league.

The kid got some bad advice. I feel sorry for him. We could have definitely used this year at DT.

Looks like the only ones that left early and are on the active roster are Lamar and Vernon.

Streeter, BWash, and Forston would have been nice to have this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe Byrd is still with Arizona.

edit: he didn't leave early, but still.

So how much was his free agent contract?? I remeber when Sam signed his contract as a free agent, his signing bonus was only like $7,500...

Terrell McClain, 3 star recruit with no Big 3 offers.....better player than 5 star Marcus Forston. SMGDFH.

don't see the point in ragging on him for getting cut. dude made a team that played in the super bowl last year as a rookie free agent. that ain't easy. he'll probably be signed to the practice squad once he clears waivers. and why knock him for leaving? coming back to an engage and shed system isn't going to help his stock cause he wouldn't play well in it just like he didn't early last year. he had two options that weren't really attractive...leave now and probably go undrafted or come back to a system he doesn't fit and still probably go undrafted cause he's had a poor year. might as well hurry up the process and make that minimum money cause its still a lot of money for 99% of the people on this planet. wasn't the same situation as some of the other guys.

not true.
Forston's contract was not guaranteed. He received a $10K signing bonus and his per game salary which I'm calculating to total around $75K for all 3 games this year.

The point of people ragging on him is to point out what happens when kids try to take the easy street.
And I don't generally agree with you that it would have been a waste for him to stay here to an engage and shed system. Half the league plays this.
There is nothing physically that prevents Forston from playing well in this system. It would have taken dedication on his part to excel in it.
But that's the problem, Forston was never dedicated at being the best he can be. His early departure supports this.
So sorry, no sympathy from me for this type of kid and really I could care less if he makes it or not.

untrue. judging by the sudden improvements we have seen from grimble, king, mcgee, there's a good chance that forston might have improved his stock

If him and all the other guys have stayed and applied themselves to Golden's Process they could all have improved their draft stock. I mean look what he did with Streeter, Davon Johnson, etc...

If anything, this just confirms what we already knew... Despite his 5 star ranking out of HS, he is not as talented as adverstised.

not caring is different from hoping he fails though. its all good not to care. actually hoping the guy fails...can't ride with that thought process.

considering his history...better chance he'd have hurt himself again.

F-em ... He(They) chose to take the easy route without thinking of the team, or really thinking at all. They didn't want to work to get better. They didn't wait to see where they might go, they just didn't want to work hard. I like that they are failing because it provides me with a good teaching lesson for my kids. It also provides Golden with more fire power for recruits and to current TEAM players.

I root for every Cane to make it and excel in the league. I rather be able to walk into any kids house and say look even our bust ball in the league rather than have a lesson for why our Juniors shouldn't leave. In the right culture kids will stay unless they are ready, even some that are ready will still opt to stay. Fact is those kids were Shannon guys and didn't want to buy in. Probably best they moved on whether they made good decisions or not. But at the same time I wish them all the best because it can only help us in recruiting.
