The Patriots made a swap on the back of their roster on Wednesday, signing defensive tackle Terrell McClain and releasing defensive tackle Marcus Forston.

McClain (6-foot-2, 300 pounds) was a third-round pick of the Panthers last season. The 24-year old South Florida product started 12 games last season, tallying 19 tackles and one sack, before being placed on injured reserve with a sprained left knee.

Forston was an undrafted free agent signed by the Patriots in May out of Miami. He made his NFL debut on Sunday night in Baltimore, playing eight defensive snaps.

The Patriots were without defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick (ankle) for their loss in Baltimore, so swapping McClain for Forston could give the team a more game-ready player if Deaderick is out for an extended period.

When there is a market for them. Unfortunately there is no way to pick DTs up off the waiver wire in college football during the middle of the season.

Does Rosenhause know anything about football or is he just some ****** lawyer turns agent?

i'm glad he got cut. he's not going to make it and will be a punk for the rest of his life (hopefully not).

it's also good for the program since Golden can use him as an example of what not do, how not to practice, how not to leave early etc.

i'm convinced him and a few others left early so as to not to have to work hard and get into shape.

Taking pleasure in a man you don't even know and a former Cane losing his job? You're quite pathetic.

i'll take that back. i'm not glad for him. but his getting cut is a result of his poor decisions and his poor work ethic.

i heard something recently, have compassion for unfortunate people but not the clueless.

Listen up here PapaCane.. I for one am NOT happy he got released but I'm not surprised whatsoever. Is anyone really surprised??

He came in with sooo much hype and talent, but never performed that way and couldn't stay healthy. He made an uneducated and hasty decision to forego his senior year, which went against what he was being told by coaches who actually cared about his well being, and he instead listened to a crooked *** agent.

Not only did he not even get drafted (some claimed after his freshman year he'd be a 1st rounder lol), but now he's been cut by one of the best organizations in the league. There are consequences for stupid *** decisions. I hope he at least got his degree, because he's gonna need that ****.

The kid got some bad advice. I feel sorry for him. We could have definitely used this year at DT.

Looks like the only ones that left early and are on the active roster are Lamar and Vernon.

Streeter, BWash, and Forston would have been nice to have this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Agree on all points.

I'm glad everyone that left early did. Would we be 4-0 with them? Nope. Lets the young players with heart and work ethic gain experience.

We'd be marginally better. Best to get their attitudes out of the locker room

I wondered if Forston would survive that performance from the other night. He filled in for Wilfork briefly and generally flopped, with the same faults he demonstrated here. Didn't look like NFL caliber.

He could still wind up on their practice squad, or be brought back. I've seen a few quotes from the coaching staff that were more positive toward Forston than anything I've detected.
