2016 DT Marcel Southall is having academic issues with enrolling at Texas, so this could be something to keep an eye on he needs 1 more summer school class. This is the samething that happened last year with a Texas DT signee who needed a language class for Texas but not Other schools so he asked for release and Charlie Strong crapped on him to make an example out of the kid. That kid ended up at Oklahoma.

If Southall becomes available again he would be a welcome addition, but I think Coach Richt would have to cut a dlinemen to make roster room in late August, which always a dicey proposition. But he fits the scheme better than let's say a Ryan Fines.

Is Texas even better than us academically that he could get into UM? Or is it the language thing only? I faintly remember Miami requiring extra language credits as well.

Miami is a private school so the Language credits are recommended not required. So UM has a little more leeway than a state school in terms of types of credits accepted, now whether UM's admission uses this as an advantage is another story altogether.

Transferring from UT. Announced 20-30 minutes ago. Appears to be academics related as he missed most of this spring due to that. Took a RS last season and will probably be headed to JUCO. However, it should be noted that UT is transitioning to a 3-4 from a 4-3 under Herman and it is being speculated that scheme is a large reason for both transfers among other things.

I wouldn't say that entirely. Not like they got in trouble or committed crimes. Southall? Definitely more than the other two. When you can't cut it in the classroom that can raise a red flag in regards to character, work ethic, etc., but by all accounts we could be talking about much worse. Not like they turned out to be felons like 2017 DT target Kane Taylor that had a world of ability.
