Same thing recruits always say, as well as their coaches.

Duncanville (Tex.) High School DL Marcel Southall took an official visit to Miami last weekend.

Unfortunately he wasn't available for interviews - his phone was dropped in water and is still drying out in a bag of rice.

But his high school defensive line coach, Ramel Borner, says that Southall told him today "that he had a great time down there, that Miami is really high on his list."

Also on his list: Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi and TCU.

"He's going to take a visit this weekend, it's between Ole Miss and TCU for the visit," Borner said. "Then he'll come back and make his decision, will announce it on signing day."

Would Borner be surprised if Southall picks the Canes?

"I wouldn't be surprised because he had them as the one school before this recruiting process that he personally wanted to always go and play for," Borner said. "He grew up a Miami fan."

Certainly Southall is a tremendous talent who could line up at end or tackle.

"No. 1 he is very athletic, is strong," Borner said. "He has a great pass rush. He runs a 4.9 but played with a high ankle sprain this season that slowed a lot of momentum down for him. We never really could shake that this season.

"Honestly he just was dominating at the 3 technique and his pass rushing ability, he can get to that quarterback pretty fast, is good with his hands."

Borner adds, "I think he' s an NFL prospect in two to three years."

So true....same old ****, different old name.

This kid had his fun and is now deciding where in the Big 12 he will land.

At this pace, Richt better spend 60% of all recruiting efforts for 2017 on DT.

Golden was the Pox for DT's.

He couldn't purchase a serious discussion with a top DT. All that stand up and pattycake crap.

Hope he goes to the toilet in the dark, sits down, and fails to note the seat was up.

This...it will probably take 1-2seasons of seeing our DT's in the opponents backfield to gain traction with up and comers. That uber-passive defense that was so loved by our last staff did a lot of damage, more than just getting gashed by almost every team we faced. Maybe, just one season, but Coach Kool and Coach Diaz are gonna be under the gun as far as getting kids excited to be Canes and possibly become the next Brown, Kennedy, Maryland, Sapp, Wilfork...that's A LOT of work. I think the Diaz/Kool combo gets it done. My $0.02.

Go Canes!

i think richt will get at least 2 dt's , im pretty sure tyrick martin is gonna flip to miami and follow coach kool, southall to me seems like a get also i could be wrong but i think we get him. i would love to see one of the lsu dt's liek logan flip or this kid on campus today but if get just 2 i think are ok this year. don't need juco dt's,

miami has some nice dt's prospects, jenkins, norton, moten, willis, mcintosh, so a jr college guy not necessary but getting 2 true freshman in to learn or redshirt would be nice.
