When will Miami get serious about fielding a top D1 baseball program?? This is painful to watch. Could get very ugly in the coming weeks with FSU, UNC, UVA and GT looming.

I like reading the baseball board much more than the football board, but some of you guys have some not so hot takes.

Gino’s main flaw is his recruiting. If you get boys that can play, you win. Baseball isn’t like other sports where there are playbooks and coordinators. A coach will have a game plan and usually it’s worth nothing by the third inning. You need ball players. We have a handful, but most of our guys are not great. Gino doesn’t hit for the guys. He doesn’t make pitches for the guys. They have to do those things, and they would if they could. They unfortunately just don’t have the talent outside of a few guys…

Nah. While the recruiting is absolutely an issue, there are flaws in the development of players as well. Gino can’t hit for them, but he can establish a better program philosophy than “see how far you can hit it no matter what the situation is”.

AllabouttheU95…I go to the top showcases and travel ball tournaments in the country, and Miami isn’t even in the convo of places these kids want to go. Outside of South Florida, we are an afterthought. I PROMISE you that ANY kid from Tampa north that gets offered by Miami or UF is going to be a Gator. That’s Gino’s fault. The rest is just baseball. It’s the sad reality

But these kids aren’t only coached by Gino. The top kids have VERY solid coaching at all levels. Summer leagues, high school, and even the top travel teams. We just aren’t getting them…

Disagree completely. We just looked like Florida Southern at the plate in those three games. We get top 15 talent, supposedly. We’re not getting leftovers from around the state.

There's a quick inning for ya. Just the wrong ******* team. Pathetic again. Morales in ACC play horrible. Cyr shouldn't even bring a bat with him to the plate. Just walk up there get 3 strikes and walk back
Morales has twice as many strikeouts as walks this year. He's supposed to be the best player and it just sets a bad example for the rest of the lineup, particularly Cyr.

We need to look outside of FLA as well IMO for talent. Braun Cali kid. Burrell Arky kid. Seems Gino doesn’t have a national recruiting mindset

Tampa Jesuit is nationally ranked. Berkeley prep is nationally ranked. Calvary Christian is nationally ranked. How many kids do we have from these schools playing for us right now or committed to play for us?

Miami has had three (3) Number 1 recruiting classes in recent years. So either the ranking system is completely, irrevocably wrong about Miami every year or the coaches aren’t developing the talent. Since we’ve seen so many players regress from their freshman years and often times succeed elsewhere, Its not a stretch to think it’s the latter.

You need to get up to date. Berkeley is pretty mediocre. When Rivers isn’t on the mound they are very ordinary.
