Usually when this type of stuff is out in the media it means he’s already gone…

Agreed. This is definitely in the best interest of the program moving forward, but presumably Guidry is aware of his current status as well, and a checked out coach while trying to make a playoff run doesn’t seem great. We are not taking the next step as a program with a d coordinator who is schematically as flawed as Guidry. Mario knows that and will make decisions accordingly. If he’s shown one thing in his mediocre tenure here it’s that he will move on from coaches in a respectful manner by allowing them to get a job. Guidry will be the same when that time comes. My guess is it’s this year unless the bye week was truly a wake up call
I was told on this board that Venables had taken a step back because of his wife's illness. Would the Hecht be open to swinging for the fences?
Again, that's the "name" DC that jumps out at me. Manny and Al might be too much for the fan base.
This piece tells me that Guidry's body of work this season is unacceptable and will keep UM from getting to a National Championship Game. AD and the Lawyers are probably starting the talent search as we speak.
You are correct, but that’s CIS for you.For the x's and o's guys, did Guidry have scheme issues last year, or trouble having his personnel align properly?
Last year it seemed like he was the talk of the board because he was available to overcome the many injuries the defense suffered, and in doing so kept the team in many games despite TVD's inability to function as a QB
He doesn’t mean like that.I’d take a swing at him.
I’ll ask again since no one could answer before, but who are the coaches who “fix” talent issues in the middle of a season? The reason I would get rid of him is because he clearly doesn't know how to fix the situation and that's an indictment on his skill sets as a coordinator. GT just beat you with a one armed QB because their coaches understood how to play chess. Guidry clearly does not.
Any names of potential candidates? No teams seem to have a great DC and Manny at Duke isn't available. Especially no DC in the ACC aspires to greatness, how about Indiana Bryant Haines? or ND Al Golden....both have top 5 defenses.
This isn’t shocking. Our defense is a disaster we spent way too much money on talent to play this bad. GT was a middle Tennessee indictment on how bad it got.Usually when this type of stuff is out in the media it means he’s already gone…
Other teams in the ACC with less talent figure out how to stop teams like Duke, Cal, and Virginia Tech. The fact that we can’t is 100 percent a coaching issue.I’ll ask again since no one could answer before, but who are the coaches who “fix” talent issues in the middle of a season?
