Manny Diaz - 2022 Broyles Award Finalist [Nominee not Finalist]

Shaq and Pickney were not Al Golden players.
I guess I should clarify and go into more detail. Shaq and Pink committed when Golden was the head coach. Manny had nothing to do with this evaluating process all he had to do was maintain their commitment. Every LB since then that was evaluated by Manny and hand picked by him was trash minus Wesley but everyone knew he was good.

& Wesley committed AFTER Diaz got fired! Not officially, but Wes committed on 12/4 & Diaz was fired on 12/6. Mario was hired on 12/6.

By the time Mack Brown got there it was to late and to many of Manny player were on the team. Have to admit Miami had a solid defense with AL Golden players Shaq, Pinkney, Jajuan Johnson and the defensive line was solid.
He also could be meaning how Mack Brown fired Manny as *his* defensive coordinator.

This is true I was more so just talking about evaluations with all of this. Wesley was first evaluated and offered by Manny and then committee to Mario. My whole point was Manny being a bad talent evaluator with all of this.

Ahhh; got u. Yes, totally agree.

Manny is an ultimate imposter in cfb. Always seems to make headlines with his "aggressive defense" that always seems to do best his first or second year (without his recruits). Any offense with a pulse smashes his defence with simple concepts; attack the flats and run the counter simple as that. Run the counter or something like it and you'll go over 200 easy peasy. This man learned a lot when it came to being a politician and it shows. With that being said I do think he would be well suited for a g5 or Lower p5 where his scheme will have the most success.

Michigan scored every time they had the ball except 1 when they through a pick 6. Every single time.

I’d say the only semi good offense he has shut down is Minnesota. And he has Rutgers and Mich st left so he should statistically have a top def if they do what they are supposed to do. The big 10 outside of 3-4 teams most years is perfect for Mannys D. The fan base just has to be ready for a few “letdowns”

Also Mack fired him for being a bad DC.

If u actually look at Diaz’s tenure as DC; he is rock solid yr 1 at a new stop. It’s as time goes on, the defense weakens (& he’s only been a DC longer than 2 yrs at two spots: UT & Miami).
That's a fact he won't last there past 2023 lol

Manny is a finalist for Broyles Award this year for the work he's done at PSU. Congrats to him and I personally think DC is a better fit for him.

This got me thinking, where would Manny be a good fit as HC? I'd hire him at a school like USF or Charlotte to be HC. Maybe Temple takes another look😂.

Having seen the Gattis O in 2022 not sure this voting committee isn't high as ****, but glad he has found success in his future endeavor

Penn st has played two good teams (Michigan ran for 431 sound familiar) and Ohio st. They scored 41 & 44 points in those two games. You are right Manny never shuts down a really good offense.

How is he a finalist? Lol this should show you this award don’t mean shît. Psu are 31st in total defense, 16th in scoring D, 26th run D, and 53rd vs the pass. And got pounded by Michigan.
And Penn State was 39th in total D last year.
I don’t get it.

Nominee or finalist?
I went on their site and saw there were 53 nominees listed, but no finalists.
