Manny and Blake still…

I’ll keep manny another year if he wins out and hired a DC. Blake gotta go no matter what. But let’s face it they aren’t going to fire him because the school doesn’t care about Athletic department. They are out of touch with reality to the point they really believe Academics is the brand. They are missing out on millions every year because of this delusion.

I’m Cristobal or bust. With all the coaching vacancies this year there aren’t many great options. Mario is the clear cut upgrade who is winning at a P5 level.

Why would Mario come here? Oregon is making a huge investment in an IPF and appears to have a serious interest in maintaining its dominance of the PAC-12.

Unless there’s been a sea-change on this Board towards the Football Program and Cristobal and his people have been made to understand that, I just don’t see him coming here.

There’s people that thinks he will and there’s people that don‘t. Thats why i say it‘s 50-50.

Lets not act like Oregon is some great job, first off you’re in Oregon lol. They also never get top coaches , it’s either promotions from within like Mario / chip or meh hires like Taggert. Even with all that big “ Nike money”. Why do you suppose that is?

Theres plenty of pros to him coming home , from personal and professional. There’s also pros for him to stay put. You’d be crazy to think he wouldn’t be at least be tempted to come back home when his alma mater is supposedly going all out for football for the first time ever. Coaching your home team while getting massive support. Anyone with a brain knows Miami is a ticking time bomb that’s just one guy that gets it away.

The issue with this is any DC worth a **** is gonna want to bring his guys with him to run his D too. He isn’t just gonna come and all of a sudden the coaches he doesn’t know are gonna be all on the same page teaching a new D while learning themselves. The only logical choice is Banda at that point. I like Banda but ****. No way.

Miami has way more ceiling than Oregon despite all those resources. Just get the right management in place and this job is a no brainer.

that's the rub. The only way Mario is interested in coming here is if:

- Blake is gone
- new AD is in place and lays out a vision for sports programs and football is the tip of the spear
- commitment to funding a staff at $X level, as well as a supporting infrastructure (i.e. support staff, analysts, etc)

Either way, if Mario passes and we have those other things in place, I think it can be a draw to someone else. Hopefully these things are not just things we'd do for Mario, rather, any coach.

If the DC is saddled with Diaz's flawed scheme, it won't matter. At that point, it won't matter who's the DC.

The biggest problem with bringing Manny back and demanding that he hire DC is that no decent DC would come knowing how thin the ice is under Manny's feet. So this will lead to another Baker-type hire that leads us to the inevitable...Manny being fired.

I get all of that. Poster down thread indicated that Miami has a higher ceiling than Oregon, and I agree. However, the evidence for any HC with a brain is that this Board and Administration will only make cosmetic changes and will not make the investment necessary to make a coach like Mario want to come here.

It’s not Mario. It’s Mario’s Assistants Budget.

Believe me, I want to be wrong, but I wouldn’t trust this Board to a G5 program, much less Miami.
 
Manny sucks but these kids like him. You fire manny and Blake together then we are going to get burned in the transfer portal. A new AD can let manny fail (or win) then bring in his guy after a year of settling in and getting some buy in. We have talent in Key positions not worth losing.
