Didn't think #UM really had a shot at Miramar CB Tracy Howard, but I do now after speaking to him for 30 minutes today
6:06pm - 25 Jan 12

Unless Manny doesn't know what day it is the interview was done today lol

Ultimately, after talking to him for close to 30 minutes Wednesday, I believe it comes down to the Canes and Gators for Howard. He'll make his announcement on ESPNU next Wednesday morning, roughly around 9 a.m. Florida is clearly the leader -- and the Gators earned it. It appears they've worked hardest to get Howard to like them, visiting Miramar High far more than any other team according to Howard.

"UM recruited me, but they weren't recruiting me as hard as Florida or Florida State," Howard said in a conversation not recorded on the video below.

"I'm not talking about calling all the time. I hate that. I don't answer the phone. Florida was always coming to the school, [defensive backs] coach [Travaris] Robinson. I was always seeing him. We built a bond, just got to know him a lot. I wasn't doing that with [UM defensive backs] coach Williams. I feel more comfortable with Coach T-Rob than I do with Coach Williams. If I had to go somewhere and made that choice two weeks ago, I would have gone to Florida because I feel more comfortable with that coaching staff. I know UM players just because some of them went to Miami, but I had better relationships with the coaches and things like that. I don't go to places where me and the coaches aren't real tight or I don't really know them."

But the Canes have earned their shot -- this final recruiting weekend. Howard said his relationship with Williams is "getting better and better by the day."

"We sat down and talked football yesterday. I like what he's coaching," Howard said.

Miramar coach Damon Cogdell -- accused by some of funneling too many of his players to his alma mater West Virginia -- will visit UM Saturday, too. "I just want to be there for Tracy," Cogdell said. "Coach Golden is a good man. I really like him and what he's doing."

After his visit, Howard said he plans to reach a decision by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

"I didn't really think it was going to be this hard," Howard said. "Honestly, I'm not going to put any pressure on myself. I'll never let the pressure get to me in life, especially the football field. When I line up against the best receivers I'm not going to be panicking, 'God, I've got to live up to the hype, let me lock this guy down.' Just go out there and play loose. It's just like the recruiting process, be loose with it. I don't feel like I'm going to let nobody down. The only people I can let down are my parents, my little brother, my uncle and my head coach. Those are the five main people I look to for advice.

"My little brother, we've shared a room for 17 years. He knows me the most of anybody in the world. He knows what's best for me, just like I know what's best for him. Even my dad. He's a UM fan. He wants me to go to UM. But he respects my decision and he will if I decide to leave. My mom, she's always going to be there for me. Coach Cogdell will never steer me wrong.

Why the **** did we let a UF assistant out recruit us for the #1 prospect in Broward? That is unacceptable...Howard's high school is literally right down the street from sunlife and this gayturd "T-Rob" is in Miramar more than our coaches? Why? Looks like we have nobody to blame but P. Williams and this staff for losing Howard.

I am sure there's a lot more to the story. With what Al Golden and staff have shown with their tireless recruiting efforts, I find it hard to accept the idea that we just ignored him because he said he wasn't interested. Especially when we ended up with one of his teammates in the class.

going to be very interesting next week...in his interview with Rose this morning, I thought he mentioned that it was about the playing with the cats he knew and not about the coaches.

He said exactly that. He said to make his final decision he was going to take the coaches out of the equation and just concentrate on the people he would be playing with.

All three of them being there with tracy will make it hard for him to turn miami down. I think he is a florida lean but a great visit could change all that.

Ay, I couldn't ask for anything more than what Howard is giving us.

I think he's going to come in with an open mind...Malcolm, Duke, and Deon really got our foot in the door and its up to the whole group plus the staff, players, etc to close on the kid. Instant starter from day one at Miami.

We have a chance...the final visit right before signing day...all his boys wanting him to join them at Miami...

Close on'em fellas.

We gotta beat out Florida though...he loves Florida.

I hope howard comes but not matter what we already have better corners then we did last year.

Howard and bush could be a great duo for years to come. The thing i like the best that this staff is doing, is the fact that there will be serious competition to be a starter. That makes everyone better.

LOL at UCLA thinking they would get an official

He was just going to go so he could get his other boy an offer.

How does that work?

"Malcom, we'll pay your way here, show you the best time of your life on our dollar and we offer your boy."

Sort of. Thats also why coaches with 1 five-star recruit and 4 - 2 star recruits will ask the 5 star to stay silent until late January. The goal is to keep college coaches coming around to get the other kids a peek.

I think when we get this kid on campus and he sees all his boys chilling there and there to get him to come will have a major impact on him...at the end he said its all open and no leader....its going to come down to this weekend if saturdays visit goes well i think we steal him away i say he's 50/50 UF to UM but I think this weekend we take the number one corner in the country and keep him home....ALSO this class is putting huge faith in this coaching staff they mean business and they want to win bad
